American Family Care (AFC) Northwest Fresno clinic is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to deliver comprehensive care for urgent medical needs, including minor injuries and work-related exams. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, perform DOT physicals, and manage worker's compensation cases within state regulations.

The role requires 1+ year in Workers' Comp care, current PA/NP licensure in California, and board certification.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of Worker’s Comp care experience.
• Active and current Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner licensure in the state of practice; DEA number and state-controlled substance certificate as required.
• ANCC, AANP, or NCCPA Board Certified – (with 1 yr ER/UC experience preferred)
• Able to multi-task and work independently

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive health histories, review records, and develop medical assessments.
• Prescribe medications and treatments per state regulations.
• Diagnose and treat work-related injuries and conduct pre-employment exams (DOT/Physicals).
• Maintain accurate patient records in the EMR system.
• Provide occupational health services including DOT exams and workers' compensation care.
• Institute emergency measures and stabilize patients as needed.
• Coordinate care with staff and refer to appropriate facilities or resources.
• Other duties as assigned

Job Summary

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) cares for our patients within the scope of training and approved the agreement, as outlined by their governing board. Works collaboratively with other providers and staff to ensure efficient patient flow and a high level of patient satisfaction. This position works directly with a franchised business location. The specific job duties and benefits can vary between franchises.

The ideal candidate will be confident in providing comprehensive care to patients of all ages with a wide variety of urgent medical needs, including minor injuries, acute illnesses, and preventive services. They also need to be able to see Work related injuries, Pre-employment Physicals and DOT Physicals. If you are not already certified with DOT, you will need to be certified ideally prior to the start date or 60 days after your first day. This is reimbursed by the company after completion of the course.

Responsibilities

Perform complete, detailed, and accurate health histories, review patient records, develop comprehensive medical assessments, and order laboratory, radiological and diagnostic studies appropriate for complaint, race, sex, and physical condition of the patient

Perform minor procedures (e.g., suturing, splinting, wound care, incision & drainage)

Prescribe appropriate medications and treatments in accordance with state regulations

Diagnosis and treatment of work-related injuries, Physicals and other work-related exams

Provide occupational health services, including DOT exams and treatment of workers' compensation injuries

Conduct pre-employment physicals and other job-related medical evaluations

Maintain accurate and thorough patient records in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system

Formulate medical and nursing diagnoses and institute therapy or referrals of patients to the appropriate health care facilities, agencies, and other resources of the community or physician

Institute emergency measures and emergency treatment or appropriate stabilization measures in situations such as cardiac arrest, shock, hemorrhage, convulsions, poisoning, and allergic reactions

Interpret and analyze patient data to determine patient status, patient management and treatment

Provide instructions and guidance regarding health care and health care promotion to patients/family/ significant others

Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

1+ years of experience in Worker’s Comp care
