NaphCare, Inc. is hiring Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants to join our medical team in Downtown Phoenix, AZ at ASPC – Phoenix.

You will provide comprehensive care to incarcerated patients in a controlled environment, with responsibilities from assessment to treatment, including prescribing medications and responding to emergencies. We offer competitive pay rates ($65–$71/hour) depending on shift, site needs, hire status, and experience, with both full-time and part-time opportunities

Qualifications

  • Advanced nursing education (Master's or Doctorate) required.
  • Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner; Arizona license.
  • DEA registration required; collaborative agreement with on-site Physician.
  • Board certified by a recognized American Board of Medical Specialties.
  • BLS/CPR certification (AHA).

Overview

NaphCare is hiring Nurses Practitioners (NPs) and Physician Assistants (PAs) to join our team of medical professionals in Downtown Phoenix, AZ, where we manage all aspects of healthcare for the individuals who are currently incarcerated in the ASPC - Phoenix.

Pay rates range from $65.00to$71.00 per hour based on shift, site needs, hire status, and experience.

Full Time and Part Time positions may be available!

As a Correctional Nurse Practitioner (NP), you will work alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals to provide care to the individuals in residence. Working within a controlled environment, where security is top priority and the days are never dull, you will have various duties to keep you engaged including assessing, diagnosing and treating patients with a range of medical conditions and chronic illnesses, prescribe medications, respond to emergencies, etc. This is a unique position where you can make a difference to this diverse population of patients with complex medical needs.

Responsibilities

The Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant plays a critical role in our continued mission to provide quality care that protects the rights, dignity, and health of our unique patient population. Duties and responsibilities may include and are not limited to:

  • Conducting physical examinations, developing treatment plans and monitoring patients
  • Managing acute and chronic conditions such as asthma, hypertension, and diabetes.
  • Administering medications and providing instructions to patients
  • Monitoring and documenting patient health including vital signs, medical histories.
  • Providing direct patient care, triaging, assessing patient needs, developing care plans, and coordinating services.
  • Responding to medical emergencies, providing first aid, and ensuring timely transport to appropriate healthcare facilities.
  • Educating patients on preventative care, healthy lifestyle choices, and substance abuse prevention.
  • Understanding and adhering to correctional facility security protocols, while working closely with correctional officers and other healthcare professionals, to ensure the safety and well-being of patients.
  • Maintaining accurate medical records, documenting treatment plans, and reporting any relevant information.
  • Conducting rounds, evaluating patients returning from off-site treatment
  • Admitting and discharging patients from the facility
Qualifications

Education / Licenses / Certifications / Requirements

  • Advanced nursing education (Master's or Doctorate)
  • Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner
  • Must hold a current unrestricted license as a Nurse Practitioner in Arizona
  • Current DEA registration
  • An appropriate collaborative agreement with the on-site Physician
  • Must possess an active BLS/CPR Certification (AHA required)
  • Be certified in a Board recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties
  • Strong organizational skills are needed to keep track of patient treatment plans and progress notes
  • Knowledge of nursing practice principles and techniques, occupational health and safety standards, infectious disease management, applicable health care laws, regulations, and procedures for direct health care services.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Able to work independently and in a team
  • Experience working in a correctional facility or acute care center is a plus
  • Ability to interact effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds, including those with mental health or substance abuse issues
  • Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information and integrity, professionalism and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
  • Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening

Physical Capabilities:

Must have the ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift.
