Job summary

Vanguard Medical Corporation seeks a Family Nurse Practitioner to deliver patient care within established supervision protocols. Responsibilities include preventive health screenings for children, pregnant patients, and adults, as well as acute care for walk-in patients and management of chronic stable conditions.

Applicants must hold a California medical license, current BLS and DEA certifications; bilingual English/Spanish is preferred, with experience in health centers welcomed.

Job description

Family Nurse Practitioners are to care for patients independently (without consulting a physician) when operating within protocols of the Physician Assistant/Family Nurse Practitioner Supervision Agreement and operating within their training and experience as Family Nurse Practitioners.Family Nurse Practitioners are to consult a physician whenever they have doubt as to the diagnosis or treatment of the patient.Within the protocols developed, Family Nurse Practitioners are to provide health maintenance screening for children, pregnant patients, and adults, acute care for walk in patients, care for patients with chronic stable conditions.

Family Nurse Practitioners are limited in exercise of independent clinical judgment by the Nurse Practice Act of the state of California, and the personnel policies of the VMC.Family Nurse Practitioners are not to initiate new clinical or administrative protocols or procedures within the Health Center, except as developed in cooperation with the Chief Medical Officer.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Current Certifications, Current California Medical License, Current BLS Certification, Current DEA Certification. Neat personal appearance, good physical and mental health, Bilingual for spoken English and Spanish preferred.Experienced Nurse Practitioners (particularly those who have worked in Health Centers) and those Nurse Practitioner’s who have completed family practice training are preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to fingers, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear.Must be able to hear staff on the phone and those are served in-person, and speak clearly in order to communicate information to clients and staff.Ability to sit at a desk or computer terminal for 2-4 hours daily.Ability to stand/walk for 2-8 hours per day.The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Works closely with patients, physicians and co-workers.Interacts with allied departments, i.e., X-ray, Lab.Stress level is high.The potential exists for handling hazardous and/or infectious material, therefore, good judgment is necessary at all times.Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a health care environment.
