Job summary

Brown Family Law in Salt Lake City, UT is seeking a sharp family attorney to join our growing firm. We cap our caseload at 30 clients, so you’ll have time to communicate with and serve each client at a very high level, including court hearings and trials for divorce, alimony, and child custody.

The prime candidate will handle a range of family law issues such as custody, asset and debt division, and domestic violence.

Qualifications

• Experience in family law, particularly divorce, child custody, and spousal support.
• Ability to manage a caseload of up to 30 clients, ensuring excellent personalized service.
• Proven track record of effective negotiation and advocacy in court settings.
• Strong communication skills to provide clear, actionable updates and advice to clients.
• Attention to detail in preparing and filing legal documents, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Commitment to staying informed on the latest developments in family law.
• ABA membership in good standing and active involvement with the ABA.
• 1–2 years in a law firm on family law issues; real estate experience for marital property.

Responsibilities

• Represent clients in family law cases, ensuring their rights and interests are protected.
• Take care of your paralegal and help your team improve.
• Communicate promptly and systematically with clients to understand their needs and provide clear, actionable updates.
• Prepare and file legal documents, including petitions, motions, and agreements, with precision.
• Attend court hearings and trials, advocating for clients in divorce, custody, and spousal support.
• Negotiate settlements with opposing attorneys to align with clients' best interests.
• Maintain a limited caseload for excellent personalized service.
• Stay updated on family law developments to advise clients in Salt Lake City, UT.

Our firm is growing, and we are looking for a sharp family attorney. We cap our caseload at 30 clients, so you'll have time to communicate with and serve your clients at a very high level. You’ll assist individuals in a variety of situations, such as attending court hearings and trials for divorce, alimony/spousal support, and child custody. The prime candidate will have experience with a range of family law issues like child custody, asset and debt division, alimony, and domestic violence, and be able to maintain composure, negotiate, and argue at a top level, even in emotional and high-stress situations. Qualifications

• Experience in family law, particularly in divorce, child custody, and spousal support cases.
• Ability to manage a caseload of up to 30 clients, ensuring excellent personalized service.
• Proven track record of effective negotiation and advocacy in court settings.
• Strong communication skills to provide clear, actionable updates and advice to clients.
• Attention to detail in preparing and filing legal documents, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Commitment to staying informed on the latest developments in family law.
• Ability to work collaboratively with paralegals and all team members in order to make the firm better and serve clients exceptionally well.
• Strong knowledge base of representing plaintiffs and defendants
• Candidates should be great negotiators and communicators, specifically in situations when emotions and stress are high
• Member in good standing and actively involved with the ABA (American Bar Association)
• At least 1-2 years of working in a law firm on family law issues as well as real estate (determining marital property) is necessary
• Prior work or studies in criminal justice preferred
