DarrowEverett LLP seeks a Family Law Associate Attorney for our Private Client Group in Providence, RI. The candidate will handle cases from inception through trial, draft discovery pleadings, take depositions, and manage complex family litigation with a focus on outcomes and client service.

You will coordinate with experts, supervise staff, and represent clients at hearings, mediations, and trials while maintaining discretion on sensitive matters.

Qualifications

• J.D. degree and Rhode Island license in good standing.
• Strong writing and advocacy skills are required.
• Experience handling family law from inception through trial.

Responsibilities

• Lead all aspects of family law litigation, including divorce, custody, alimony, child support, and post-judgment matters.
• Conduct pleadings, discovery, motions, depositions, mediation, and trial.
• Handle emergency domestic relations matters and temporary orders.
• Coordinate with staff to prepare trials and extensive briefs.
• Advise on premarital and postnuptial agreements and asset protection.
• Collaborate with financial experts, accountants, tax advisers, and mental health professionals.
• Maintain hearings, court appearances, and conferences with discretion.

Job description

DarrowEverett LLP is looking for a Family Law Associate Attorney for our Private Client Group. The candidate must have excellent communication and administrative skills, be highly organized and detail-oriented, be able to multitask without sacrificing efficiency, be responsible, and be able to represent the firm, always, in ways that enhance its reputation.

Qualified candidates must be prepared to handle cases from inception through trial, including drafting discovery pleadings and motions, and taking and defending depositions. Attorneys must be licensed to practice in Rhode Island and in good standing.

Role & Responsibilities

• Lead all aspects of family law litigation, including divorce, custody disputes, alimony, child support, and post-judgment matters.
• Conduct and oversee all phases of litigation, including pleadings, discovery, motion practice, depositions, mediation, and trial.
• Handle emergency domestic relations matters, including temporary orders, restraining orders, and custody proceedings.
• Coordinating with staff to prepare an extensive brief on each case that goes to trial.
• Advise clients regarding premarital agreements, postnuptial agreements, cohabitation agreements, and asset protection strategies.
• Collaborate with financial experts, forensic accountants, business valuation professionals, tax advisors, private investigators, and mental health professionals.
• Upholding a steady schedule of hearings, court appearances, and conferences.
• Responding to the urgent needs of clients.
• Overseeing family estates and wills.
• Provide practical, and business-oriented, solutions to sensitive family law disputes.
• Manage confidential and high-profile matters with the utmost discretion and professionalism.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree and J.D. Degree
• 3-5+ Years Experience
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Knowledge of the laws and rules, as well as state and federal court procedures
• Ability to handle sensitive matters on a confidential basis.
• Licensed to practice in Rhode Island and in good standing.
• Licensed in Massachusetts a Plus.
• A high degree of initiative, mature judgment, and discretion.
• Organization and time management skills.

Physical criteria:

• Ability to handle varying stress levels (low, moderate, high, very high) and maintain professional composure.
