Job summary

BakerRipley is hiring to provide in-home and other services to families in Early Head Start and Head Start programs in Houston, TX. You will partner with families, support goal achievement, and offer family literacy opportunities.

Responsibilities include home visits, enrolling families, coordinating across departments, and promoting parent involvement in their child’s education. A Bachelor's degree in a related field is required; Family Development Credential within 1 year is expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required in Social Work, Psychology, Education, Sociology or related field.
  • Combination of lesser education combined with years of experience may be considered.
  • Must receive Family Development Credential within 1 year.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a full case load and offer timely follow up of services depending on individualized needs, interests and plans.
  • Track delivery of Head Start/Early Head Start services using the designated agency tracking system.
  • Maintain accurate, clear, up to date and complete documentation including deadlines.
  • Develop strengths-based assessments with families that describe goals, strengths, resources and support networks.
  • Follow-up meetings with families on progress toward goals; conduct home visits and referrals.
  • Maintain an up to date Parent Involvement Calendar and support governance activities.
  • Research and keep up-to-date on program and community resources.
  • Coordinate delivery of integrated services from all content area departments.
  • Actively promote parent involvement in the program/child’s education.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Provide in-home and other services to families and children participating in Early Head Start and Head Start programs; establish mutually respectful partnerships with families; support families' efforts to reach their goals; provide opportunities for children and families to participate in family literacy services; coordinate and integrate Head Start services in order to enhance effectiveness; support families in accessing other community resource; and assist families in crisis.

Essential Functions

  • Coordinate delivery of integrated services from all content area departments: Family and Community Engagement; Student Support Services; Family Wellness; Eligibility, Recruitment, Selection, Enrollment, Attendance, and Child Development Services.
  • Actively promote parent involvement in the program/child’s education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Education, Sociology or related field. Required and
  • Combination of lesser education combined with years of experience may be considered. Required
Work Experience
  • 1-3 years
  • A minimum of three (3) years experience in a social service setting working with children and/or families. Required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Demonstrated teaching or training skills.
  • Capacity to problem solve, handle crisis, and work with families and children of low-income backgrounds.
  • Ability to work sensitively with families of diverse ethnic, language and cultural backgrounds
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of local community resources.
  • COMPUTER PROFICIENCY: Intermediate Microsoft Office experience
  • LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS: Bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Must receive Family Development Credential within 1 Year Required
