Job description

GENERAL PURPOSE

This position is responsible for providing specialty mental health services to a caseload of up to 30 youth and their families. Works cooperatively and effectively with Therapists and collaborates with the treatment team to best serve the client and family. Effectively coordinates with community partners and resources to increase client and family supports. Demonstrates and understands strength-based strategies for supporting the family and is able to work independently and manage a regularly changing daily schedule.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities – (illustrative Only)

• Works in partnership with parents who are treated as experts concerning their families.
• Ensures that treatment goals are being met and develops additional interventions when needed.
• Coaches clients in developing appropriate social skills, coping skills, money management, personal hygiene, job readiness, etc.
• Provides psychoeducation and strength-based support to increase protective factors (housing, income, parenting skills, etc.) and promote familial stability in the community.
• Provides services to address homelessness in a way that gives parents the primary role in deciding priorities and plans for their child and family.
• Coordinates services with outside agencies, schools, medical providers and other community partners.
• Advocates for and assists clients and their families in accessing and receiving mental health treatment, medical care, housing, food and clothing as indicated.
• Assists in establishing client eligibility for Medi-Cal or other benefits and advocates for continuation of benefits when appropriate.
• Provides case management services and supports the development of safety plans as needed.
• Enlists the involvement of formal and informal community resources to support the family using direct input from the child and family.
• Facilitates or co‑facilitates Child and Family Team Meetings.
• Sees the family weekly for periods of time/day that may vary depending on the need of the family.
• Manages all required record keeping as indicated by county and agency.
• Provides prompt intervention in the event of a crisis to stop the crisis and notify necessary persons and agencies, and offers on‑the‑spot counseling consistent with the program philosophy.
• Attends to the safety, health, and well‑being of clients.

Minimum Qualifications And Certifications & Licenses

Education, Training and Experience:

Minimum: AA degree and 6 years of relevant experience or Bachelor’s Degree and 4 years of experience or Master’s Degree and 2 years of relevant experience.

Licenses; Certificates; Special Requirements

• California driver’s license and current vehicle insurance/registration.
• Reliable means of transportation capable of passing a vehicle safety inspection if older than five years (excluding two‑wheeled transport such as bicycles, mopeds, and motorcycles).
