Job summary

St. Louis Children’s Hospital in Missouri is seeking a full-time Child Life Specialist for the St. Louis Children’s Specialty Care Center in South County. Schedule: Mon/Tue 6:30a–3p; Wed/Fri 8:00a–4:30p.

At BJC HealthCare, you’ll collaborate with health care professionals to provide family-centered care, prepare patients for procedures, and contribute to department operations. Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree, Child Life/Educ/Life Science, and a Child Life Internship.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• Child Life/Educ/Life Science background.
• Completion of a Child Life Internship.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with health care professionals and hospital staff to provide optimal family centered care.
• Provides child life services to patients and families as assessed and prioritized including psycho-social preparation for hospitalization, procedures, surgeries, and/or other potentially stressful events.
• Actively contributes to the efficient operation of the Child Life Department, planning activities, special projects, meetings and outcome measures.
• Increases awareness of child life services throughout the hospital by providing information about the services, role modeling, medical record documentation and in-service education.
