Job summary

County of Mendocino seeks a Social Worker – Family and Children’s Services to provide direct social work services for at-risk children and families. The role includes intakes, assessments, case management, and reunification efforts, with court report writing and participation in hearings.

The position requires on-call capability, strong documentation, and collaboration with tribal and community resources. An AA/BSW/MSW with Title IV-E funding may be available; valid driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field and one (1) year of social work case management experience.
• Valid Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct social work services for families and children with complex needs.
• Participate in on-call and call-back responding to emergencies and high-risk crises.
• Assess living situations to determine safety and placement needs; coordinate protective actions when needed.
• Manage caseloads, conduct assessments, and determine client needs and eligibility through various contacts.
• Communicate policies, rules, and regulations to clients and service providers.
• Coordinate transportation and visits for clients and family engagements.
• Develop and implement treatment plans and safety plans; refer clients to community resources.
