Job summary

The Illinois Association of School Administrators is seeking a Parent Educator to engage families, conduct assessments, and plan visits focused on parent-child interaction and family well-being.

This role involves documenting visits, coordinating group connections, and guiding families toward available resources while maintaining program records and pursuing ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or four-year degree in early childhood education, social work, health, psychology, or related field preferred (or equivalent outside the US).
  • Two years of supervised experience with young children and/or parents preferred.
  • Essential that parent educators have at least a high school diploma or GED and two years of supervised experience.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; empathetic, conscientious, and ethical.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility.
  • Ability to establish rapport with families and empower them by building on strengths; strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently in the field; computer skills including web browsing, e-mail, Internet, and word-processing.
  • Parent Educator trainings must be completed before delivering PAT services.

Responsibilities

  • Engage in recruitment activities as applicable.
  • Complete initial and annual family-centered assessments with each family.
  • Develop, monitor and review goals with each family.
  • Plan, provide and document visits focused on parent-child interaction and family well-being.
  • Provide group connections to help families build social ties.
  • Engage in parent-child activities and boost knowledge to support development.
  • Complete initial and annual developmental screening and health review for each enrolled child.
  • Connect families to resources to reach goals and address needs; assist transitions to other services.
  • Maintain and submit all required family and program documentation timely.
  • Participate in reflective supervision and staff meetings monthly.
  • Obtain competency-based professional development and renew PAT certification annually.
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement.
