Job summary

MAOF seeks a Family Case Specialist II to provide case management for families in the subsidized child care program. The role requires bilingual Spanish/English communication, strong organizational and analytical skills, and adherence to program guidelines.

Onsite work with occasional outreach in the community is expected. You will enroll families, manage documentation, and coordinate with program supervisors.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; AA degree or higher preferred.
  • Four years related work experience.
  • Bi-lingual Spanish/English required.
  • Ability to work Monday through Friday, with possible weekends or evenings as needed.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and administrative skills.
  • Excellent customer service and problem-resolution skills.
  • Computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office and internet.
  • Experience handling sensitive and confidential matters.
  • Experience working with childcare providers and CalWORKs participants.

Responsibilities

  • Enroll and certify families per rules and regulations.
  • Perform case maintenance including enrollments, re-certifications, and billing.
  • Understand program funding terms, philosophy, and handbooks.
  • Monitor cases for compliance and documentation quality.
  • Conduct quality assurance reviews of client records.
  • Identify workflows for efficiency and help implement improvements.
  • Research and document complaints and resolve issues.
  • Provide backup support to staff as needed.
  • Assist in staff development and team coordination.
  • Represent MAOF professionally and manage program audits.

Title: Family Case Specialist II

Department: CalWORKs Stage 1 (Los Angeles County)

Salary: $30.25- $32.63 Per Hour

FLSA Status: Non-exempt (40 hours per week)

Supervised by: Program Director and/or Designee

General Summary

Family Case Specialist II is responsible for providing case management services to families enrolled in the subsidized child care program. The Family Case Specialists II will perform their duties in compliance with the funding source contracts and guidelines.This is an onsite position, no remote work.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Enroll and certify families, in accordance with all applicable rules and regulations, as directed by Program Supervisor/Manager/Director.
  • Perform case maintenance such as enrollments, re-certifications, changes, billing, and any other job-related duties.
  • Understand program Funding Terms & Conditions, program philosophy, the personnel handbook, parent and provider handbooks, and any other job-related material covering all aspects of the program.
  • Monitor cases for program compliance and ensure documentation is timely, accurate, appropriate, and complete.
  • Conduct quality assurance reviews of client records.
  • Assist in identifying workflows and processes or any other area for improvement and help create solutions to gain efficiency and maximize the quality of service.
  • Research and document complaints, monitor solutions and resolve issues affecting the program.
  • Provide backup support to staff as needed.
  • Assist in the following areas: staff development; creating workflows; team performance, team building, meeting goals, etc.
  • Skillfully and professionally represent MAOF.
  • Assist in the preparation of program audits.
  • Print and mail out all assigned caseload attendance logs to the child care provider in a timely manner.
  • Performs outreach and attends community events to meet program needs.
  • Adhere to organization and program policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Safeguards confidentiality of information and records.
  • Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted, and/or changed at the discretion of the program Director.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications (Knowledge, Education, Skills and Experience)
  • High School Diploma or equivalent; AA degree or higher preferred.
  • Four (4) years equivalent related work experience.
  • Bi-lingual Spanish/ English required.
  • Ability to perform complex program requirements.
  • Ability to work Monday through Friday, regularly scheduled hours and on weekends or evenings if needed.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and administrative skills.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, math, and understanding of work-related material.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills required.
  • Excellent customer service and problem-resolution skills.
  • Computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office and internet.
  • Experience handling sensitive and confidential matters.
  • Experience working with childcare providers and CalWORKs participants receiving subsidized childcare assistance preferred.
  • Knowledge working on the existing Los Angeles County welfare system, preferred.
  • Sincere commitment to providing quality service to the public.
  • Sensitivity and ability to work well with diverse social, ethnic, religious, and cultural groups.
  • Must be able to work with minimum supervision in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be in good physical and mental condition.
  • Must always possess Live Scan clearance during employment. Revoked fingerprint clearance will lead to immediate termination of employment.
  • Must possess own vehicle, a valid California Driver’s License and appropriate automobile insurance at all times.
  • Ability to drive and travel, as required.
  • Ability to maintain cooperative, diplomatic working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, and the public; work as part of a team and collaborate with colleagues; and complete projects under the tight deadlines even when there are competing requirements and changes in assignments.
