Job summary

Volunteers of America Los Angeles is seeking a Family Advocate I to recruit and enroll children into Head Start, assess family needs, and provide case management to improve outcomes. The role supports classroom care and collaborates with site staff to aid families in accessing services and resources.

The position requires on-site work, strong communication with families, and adherence to agency policies. Health requirements and background checks are mandatory for employment.

Qualifications

• Must pass fingerprint clearance/background check.
• Must have access to an automobile with adequate insurance or reliable transportation.
• TB clearance, annual flu vaccination, pertussis and measles immunization.

Responsibilities

• Recruit and enroll Head Start children; assess family strengths and needs.
• Manage a caseload of families and assist in achieving goals.
• Coordinate referrals with family, teachers, and service staff.
• Facilitate parent involvement and advocacy.
• Maintain direct communication with families and program staff; prepare reports on time.
