The Center For Alternative is seeking a Family Advocate to support families in East Harlem and the South Bronx as part of the ACES program. The role requires a person with lived experience as a parent or primary caregiver for youth or young adults who have experienced systems involvement.

The position is full-time, Monday–Friday, with hours 9:00 AM–5:00 PM and expects substantial community engagement. Salary is $62,000 per year, with offices at 4 West 125th Street, New York, NY and 424 E 147th

Qualificações

• Must have lived experience as a parent (biological, adoptive, foster) or primary caregiver for youth or young adults who have experienced systems involvement.
• Experience supporting families and navigating benefits, housing, and vital documents is valued.
• Ability to work in the community most of the time and to engage with families in East Harlem and the South Bronx.

Job Title: Family Advocate

Job Summary:

The Education, Career and Enrichment department at CASES specializes in serving youth and young adults impacted by the criminal legal system. The Assertive Community Engagement & Success (ACES) program serves young men ages 16-24 who are residing in East Harlem and the South Bronx. ACES recognizes the importance of The Family Advocate is a person with “lived experience” as a parent (biological, adoptive, foster) or primary caregiver for youth or young adults who have experienced systems involvement. The Family Advocate supports families in both the South Bronx and East Harlem and a high majority of the time will be spent in the community.

Shift Hours: This position is full-time Monday – Friday from 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Salary: The salary for this role is $62,000 per year

Location Address: 4 West 125 th Street, NY, NY 10027 & 424 E 147th St, Bronx, NY 10455. Our office is easily accessible by public transportation

Workplace Flexibility: Flexible (for roles that have days that can be partially remote, e.g., being able to draft notes at home after going to the office/community in the morning). A high majority of the time will be spent in the community.
