Job summary

University Settlement Society of New York is seeking a part-time Youth Program Assistant to lead activities for up to 20 middle and high school students after school. You will design multidisciplinary lessons, supervise safety, and provide academic support during homework time.

The role emphasizes positive youth development, teamwork with a co-counselor, and regular communication with families and supervisors. HS diploma required; schedule is Monday–Friday 2:30pm–6:00pm, 17.5 hours per week.

Qualifications

  • HS Diploma or HSE required.
  • Experience working with middle and high school population.
  • Must be over 18 years old.
  • Partial Year Part Time schedule: Mon-Fri 2:30pm-6:00pm, 17.5 hours per week.

Responsibilities

  • Create and lead engaging activities for up to 20 youth, ensuring safety and comfort of students throughout program.
  • Design and implement lesson plans for multidisciplinary activities.
  • Ensure that academic assistance is provided during homework period.
  • Plan and involve children in a range of multidisciplinary activities; design and implement thematic-based lessons.
  • Serve as a positive role model for youth and uphold professional behavior at all times.
  • Communicate with parents and caregivers regarding student progress and problem solving.
  • Maintain responsibility for designated program supplies and proper use of all facilities, including classrooms.
  • Complete all necessary documentation and administrative tasks.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor(s).
