Job summary

The Amentum Space Exploration Division (ASED) Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GN&C) team invites fall interns to join a NASA Marshall Space Flight Center collaboration in Huntsville, Alabama. The role focuses on GN&C system design, analysis, and integration for satellites, lunar landers, and launch vehicles.

Ideal candidates are undergraduate students in science/engineering fields with a BS trajectory, strong communication, teamwork, and a proactive mindset.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate student currently enrolled in science, technical, engineering, math or related degree program leading to a BS degree at an ABET accredited institution.
  • Must be able to provide own transportation and have a STAR ID.
  • Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Have the ability to multi-task and transition between assignments
  • Show initiative, be proactive and detail oriented
  • Work independently and collaboratively
  • Have completed sophomore year of university studies and be in good academic standing
  • Maintain an overall average of 3.0
  • Demonstrate strong technical aptitude

Responsibilities

  • Model, simulate, and analyze vehicle and spacecraft dynamics
  • Analysis of launch vehicle and spacecraft multi-body dynamics, equations of motion, and trajectories to assess contact and clearance during liftoff, separation, and jettison events
  • Develop, modify, and maintain software simulators, tools, and scripts
  • Create, edit, and debug software written in Python, C/C++, Matlab, and Simulink
  • Support verification and validation of technical products
  • Prepare and present technical reports and/or briefings
  • Create and review engineering and software documentation
