Adjunct Professor/Adjunct Associate Professor/Adjunct Assistant Professor/Adjunct Instructor – Philosophy Department

The Philosophy Department at St. John’s University offers the opportunity to teach core philosophy courses to students in a diverse, Catholic and Vincentian Mission academic environment.

Responsibilities
  • PHI 1000 Philosophy of the Human Person – Investigate "What does it mean to be a human person?" with emphasis on freedom, consciousness, cognition and spirituality.
    Credit: 3 semester hours
  • PHI 2200 Ethics – Examine human happiness, moral relativism, virtues, law, conscience.
    Prerequisite: PHI 1000.
    Credit: 3 semester hours
  • PHI 3000 Metaphysics – Articulate ultimate principles of knowing and being; consider evidence of God’s existence, metaphysical promises, teleology.
    Prerequisite: PHI 1000.
    Credit: 3 semester hours
Qualifications
  • ABD in Philosophy.
  • Strong background in the history of philosophy.
  • Teaching experience with similar core philosophy courses.
Salary

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the salary range is $1803 – $2215 per credit hour or $5409 – $6645 per course.
