Job summary

Roc Nation, in New York, NY, is seeking a paid Distribution A&R Intern to work in-office up to 30 hours per week. This internship offers hands-on learning in A&R, studio recording and release planning within Roc Nation's live entertainment ecosystem.

You will assist with artist research, weekly scouting reports, chart monitoring, lyric review, and day-to-day administrative tasks to keep projects on schedule.

Qualifications

• Must be able to work out of NYC office for the Fall semester.
• Currently enrolled as a full-time college student pursuing an Associate's, Bachelor's or Master's degree.
• Interest in A&R and the music industry, with a willingness to learn.
• Strong Microsoft Office, Google Suite and internet research skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with artist research and identify opportunities through various channels.
• Coordinate weekly A&R research reports and scouting projects.
• Monitor and report on charts domestically and internationally.
• Transcribe and review lyrics, review clean audio, and support artists.
• Help with day-to-day administrative tasks to ensure projects meet deadlines.

Job Summary:

Title: Distribution A&R Intern (Paid)

Location: New York, NY (In-office, 5 days a week)

Average hours: Up to 30 hours per week

The Role:

Roc Nation is looking for a highly motivated, organized, and enthusiastic individual, who is interested in learning more about the live entertainment and music industries. This internship will allow students to gain first-hand experience in a variety of areas, including but not limited to; A&R, studio recording and release planning.

Areas that you will be learning about:

• Interns will assist our team in extensive artist and song research and identifying opportunities through a variety of means, e.g., shows, radio play, blogs, charts, demos, word-of-mouth, etc.
• Coordinate detailed weekly A&R research reports and other scouting projects
• Monitor and report on various charts domestically and internationally
• Complete various tasks for the Artist Relations Team to include tracking growth of prospective artists, transcribing and reviewing lyrics, reviewing clean audio
• Assist with all other day-to-day administrative tasks to ensure artist projects are complete and submitted on time

Qualifications:

• Must be able to work out of NYC office for the Fall semester
• Must be currently enrolled as a full-time college student working towards your Associate’s, Bachelor’s or Masters degree or recent graduate
• Prospective interns should have a basic understanding of the music industry and A&R, but still beeager to learn more about the day-to-day process
• Interest in pursuing a career in artists and repertoire (A&R)
• Prospective interns must LOVE listening to indie and unsigned artists
• Skills must include basic Microsoft Office, Google Suite and Internet research
• Exceptional interpersonal, communication, writing and organizational skills required
• Strong computer skills including proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
• Must be proactive, detailed oriented, and possess good follow-through while adhering to deadlines. Strong organizational skills are preferred
• Must be able to multitask and prioritize tasks sufficiently while working independently. Candidates must be reliable and have good time management skills
• Candidates must have experience handling confidential information
• Experience as a songwriter, performer, producer, engineer, etc is a plus
