Job summary

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or Computer Engineering OR a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
  • Experience with MCU and DSP cores/processors.
  • Experience with scripting or programming languages such as Python, shell, C, or C++.
  • Understanding of software testing and test automation principles.
  • Excellent debugging and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience using lab equipment (oscilloscopes, signal generators, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers).

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop test plans for new features and products (black/white box) translating requirements into test cases.
  • Implement tests during pre-silicon and post-silicon phases.
  • Communicate with cross-functional teams and represent the team in reviews.
  • Drive toward automation of tests within a Continuous Integration environment.
  • Find issues and triage/debug with software teams.
  • Present results to product owners, internal customers, and developers to assist in resolving defects.

We are looking for an Embedded Software Test Engineer intern who brings their experience to ensure that our products have been thoroughly tested and deliveries are rock‑solid! You will work with cross‑functional teams to build robust and scalable test methodologies that meet the high‑quality bar that our customers expect. Come join our team in Austin, TX!

Responsibilities
  • Design and develop test plans for new features and products (both black box and white box) by translating requirements into test cases and incorporating customer feedback into test plans.
  • Implement tests during the pre‑silicon and post‑silicon phases of the product.
  • Own the communication with cross‑functional teams and represent the team in discussions and reviews.
  • Drive toward automation of all tests within a Continuous Integration environment.
  • Find issues and triage/debug them with software teams.
  • Present results to product owners, internal customers, and software developers to assist in resolving defects.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or Computer Engineering OR a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or Computer Engineering
  • Experience with a variety of MCU and DSP cores/processors.
  • Experience with scripting or programming languages such as (Python/shell, C, C++, etc.).
  • Understanding of software testing and test automation principles.
  • Excellent debugging and problem‑solving skills.
  • Experience in lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, logic analyzers and spectrum analyzers for measurement and debugging issues.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
  • Experience with Jira, svn/git, and continuous integration systems (e.g., Jenkins).
  • Familiar with defect management practices.
  • Familiar with SDLC.
  • Experience with Agile Scrum software development.
  • Experience developing and implementing embedded software tests on development boards.

Cirrus Logic follows a 2+ day in‑office work schedule but interns should expect to be in the office more often, up to 5 days per week, based on business needs and team preference. Interns must be based within commutable distance of the work location listed on the job posting, or willing to relocate prior to beginning their internship with Cirrus Logic.
