Job summary

Pilgrim's is seeking a maintenance mechanic to keep the feed mill running at peak capacity in Kentucky. You will perform preventative maintenance, diagnose issues, and repair equipment as needed during operation.

The role requires reading drawings and following manufacturer maintenance recommendations to ensure reliability and safety. The candidate should have 1–2 years industrial maintenance experience and a high school diploma or GED.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to perform preventative maintenance on feed mill equipment.
  • Detect and document mechanical and electrical problems and actions taken.
  • Comply with company, local, state and federal policies and regulations.
  • Interpret equipment drawings to adjust, maintain or repair machinery.
  • Follow manufacturer recommendations for preventative maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on feed mill equipment.
  • Identify and report potential mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Maintain written records of work performed, actions taken and parts replaced.
  • Interpret drawings to service or repair machinery accurately.
  • Apply manufacturer guidance for maintenance schedules.

Job description

The primary responsibility of this position is to maintain , repair and / or re pl ace parts of machinery as discovered during PM’s or in case of breakdown s during operation to keep the Feed Mill operating at maximum capacity.

General Responsibilities :
  • The feed mill maintenance mechanic must be able to perform preventative maintenance on feed mill related equipment, as well as repair and install equipment as necessary.
  • Maintenance mechanics must be able to detect potential mechanical and electrical problems, maintain the required written records including work performed, corrective actions, and installed replacement parts.
  • Maintenance mechanics must work in compliance with all Company policies, Local, State, and Federal policies, Laws, and Regulations.
  • Interpret drawings of equipment in order to properly adjust, maintain or repair machinery .
  • Interpret equipment manuals and establish preventative maintenance programs according to the manufacturers recommendations.
Skills Required:

Must be familiar with and demonstrate the ability to perform maintenance duties related to the following areas ;

  • Single and 3 Phase Motors: Circuitry and Troubleshooting
  • Industrial Plumbing: Fittings, gauges, pumps, flows and valves
  • Power Transmissions: Chains, sprockets, bearings and couplings
  • Feed Milling Equipment: Grain e levators, spouting, valves, drag and auger conveyors
  • High Pressure Boiler Operations
  • Boiler Feed Water Systems and Water Treatment
  • Welding and Cutting: Serviceable welds, cutting and ability to identify various stee l
Physical Demands:
  • Dusty Environment and Harsh Weather Exposure .
  • Climbing and Elevated Work Areas .
  • This position operates inside and outside in extreme hot and cold temperatures .
  • This position involves lifting in excess of 55 lbs. , sweeping, shoveling and

climbing stairs and ladders .

  • This position involves working off platforms and catwalks in excess of 100 feet above ground level.
  • This position, on occasion, requires long and continuous hours in a dusty environment. Must be physically able to wear and perform essential d uties while wearing a full-face respirator.
A dditional Requirements:
  • All maintenance employees must maintain a working telephone at their residence.
  • Maintenance employees may be called in after regular work hours to make repairs or assist with repair of mill breakdowns.
  • Maintenance employees must be available to work overtime, holidays, and weekends as needed to perform scheduled and unscheduled repairs .
Educational Requirement:

High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.

Minimum 1-2 years industrial maintenance experience
