Job summary

West Star Aviation in East Alton, IL, is seeking an Aircraft Maintenance Technician to inspect, repair, and overhaul sophisticated civilian aircraft. You will troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, replace parts, and perform inspections in a fast-paced hangar environment.

Positions require AMT I–IV licenses (Airframe/Powerplant) with 0–6+ years of aviation maintenance experience.

Qualifications

As an Aircraft Maintenance Technician at West Star, you will replace or repair parts, troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, or perform inspections on some of the most sophisticated civilian aircraft in the world. • Effectively and clearly communicate (i.e., speak, write, read) in English.

Requirements/Qualifications

Your Education:
A High school diploma or equivalent. A valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal but not mandatory.

Your Experience:

• AMT I: Airframe or Powerplant license is required. Airframe license is preferred. 0-2 years of experience in aviation maintenance, avionics, or similar. Technicians have limited to moderate knowledge of general maintenance aspects and require close supervision of general maintenance tasks.
• AMT II: Airframe or Powerplant license is required. Airframe license is preferred. 2-4 years of experience in aviation maintenance. Experience working on corporate aircraft is preferred but not essential. Technicians have considerable knowledge of the job and general maintenance aspects and require general supervision on routine maintenance and more detailed instruction for new or special assignments.
• AMT III: Airframe license is required; Powerplant license is highly preferred. 4-6+ years of experience in aviation maintenance. Experience working on corporate aircraft is highly preferred but not essential. Technicians have full knowledge of general, detailed, and special assignments in aircraft maintenance.
• AMT IV (Master): Airframe and Powerplant license is required. 6+ years of experience in aviation maintenance. Must have extensive experience on corporate aircraft platforms and be a subject matter expert in all areas of the job.

Attend work every day as scheduled to include overtime and weekend assignments.
Notify supervisor in advance of shift starting if unable to work.

Perform all work in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines.
Follow all company and safety rules during performance of duties.
Maintain customer-oriented work habits.

Physical & Mental Requirements

Physical Requirements:
Lift 50 lbs.
Routine walking, bending, and squatting or sitting.
Routine or repetitive physical motion with arms and hands.
Climb ladders and stairs, and work in small, restricted areas.
Standing for long periods of time.

Mental Requirements:
Understanding and implementation of regulations and guidelines.
Troubleshoot or evaluate system operation.
Work with others in a professional manner.

Supervision

Work under supervision of assigned Team Leader and Director of Maintenance. May be directed to supervise other technicians in some capacity.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in a hangar environment subject to extreme temperature variations from very cold to very hot. Work outside during aircraft runs will occur. Varied positions in and around the aircraft.

Equipment Used

• Personal hand tools supplied by the mechanic.
• Pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical equipment.
• Jacks, stands, lifts, and other support devices.
• Tugs, power carts, and other engine-powered equipment.

Compensation & Benefits

The hourly rate for this position generally ranges between $30-$46. Actual hourly rate will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. Additional compensation in the form of a shift differential will be provided if the employee is assigned to an alternate shift. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package. Other forms of compensation include a semi-annual discretionary bonus, 401(k) company match, and employer contribution to a Health Savings Account (HSA).
