Job summary

City Union Mission seeks a Peer Support Specialist to mentor clients in recovery, guiding them toward personal goals, accountability, and sustainable independence within our Christ-centered programs.

This role serves as a compassionate leader, sharing encouragement, providing spiritual support, and helping residents navigate daily routines, meals, and community activities with dignity. Evening and overnight shifts are required, with some weekend work; shift differentials apply for late hours.

Qualifications

• Be a genuine believer in Jesus Christ with ability to clearly communicate the Gospel.
• Provide leadership, mentorship, and shepherding to clients during shifts.
• Commitment to serving the poor and homeless in a Christian ministry.
• Maintain sobriety and uphold conduct in line with faith statement.

Responsibilities

• Exemplify Jesus Christ and share the Gospel with clients during care interactions.
• Provide leadership, mentorship, and shepherding to clients on assigned shifts.
• Build relational connections and maintain accountability and structure with residents.
• Participate in mealtime and fellowship environments and model community values.
• Welcome and supervise volunteers and interns within daily routines and events.
• Maintain a safe, calm, structured environment upholding dignity and expectations.
