Join our team in San Jose, California, a vibrant city known for its innovation and technological advancements. We are seeking a dedicated professional to perform engineering investigations of significant customer returns, field failures, and line escalations related to hardware issues. This role focuses on improving customer satisfaction and product quality through timely resolution of hardware-related failures.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct engineering investigations into customer returns, field failures, and line escalations.
- Work with design and manufacturing teams to determine root causes of hardware failures at the component level.
- Collaborate with various internal engineering disciplines to resolve hardware issues.
- Facilitate special capture programs such as ARDAP, Early Field Capture, and Selective Field Capture.
- Provide feedback to design and process teams based on failure analysis findings.
- Support internal communication of failure analysis techniques across global RMA and service centers.
- Implement best practices across worldwide operational, RMA, and service sites.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
- Fluency in programming languages such as C#, JavaScript, Python, SQL, etc.
- Familiarity with operating systems like Windows, CentOS, Ubuntu, Linux, or Tiny Linux.
- Experience in troubleshooting analog and digital circuits at PCBA and system levels.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting assembly drawings, schematics, and board layouts.
- Experience with testing and measuring devices such as function generators, DMMs, oscilloscopes, and adjustable power supplies.
- Familiarity with RMA processes and fluency in data collection and analysis.
- Ability to develop, maintain, and improve troubleshooting solutions.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of PCA, System, RMA & Service manufacturing environments.
- Skill in isolating and safely injecting failures to segregate problems during debug.
- Working knowledge of Linux commands and structures, with exposure to IPMITools.
- Ability to create, develop, and debug algorithms and test tools for failure isolation.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a related field, with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
- Proven ability to debug complex hardware issues using diagnostic test equipment.
- Experience with electrical and electronic design tools, including CAD, schematic capture, and PCB layout software.
- Knowledge of testing methodologies such as functional testing, boundary scan, and in-circuit testing.
- Working knowledge of key server technologies and familiarity with protocols such as PCIe, SAS, SCSI, SATA, Fibre Channel, Ethernet, WiFi, Bluetooth, NVMe, and SSDs.
- Self-motivated team player capable of working independently in a customer-focused, fast-paced environment.
- Understanding of the full hardware and software development lifecycle.
- Experience with hardware, firmware, and software development and testing methodologies.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external partners.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
