Job summary

Butler America Aerospace, LLC. is seeking an FAI Quality Inspector to perform first article inspections in Simpsonville, SC. The role requires extensive FAI experience, WHMA/IPC knowledge, and proficiency with gages and inspection tools.

You will document results, maintain 5S standards, and communicate status with customers on-site or via calls. Required High School Diploma/GED with significant experience (preferably 6+ years, 10+ in lieu).

Qualifications

• Must have extensive knowledge of creating and reviewing FAIs.
• Perform first article inspection at first piece, in-process and final inspection per instructions.
• Knowledge of WHMA and IPC specifications.
• Perform FAI and Delta FAI per AS9102 requirements.
• Demonstrate proper use and maintenance of inspection tools.
• Document inspection results and stamp quality paperwork.
• Maintain 5S standards at workstations and areas of responsibility.
• Adhere to EH&S policies and guidelines.
• Review FAIs to ensure completion and accuracy.
• Communicate status of FAIs to customers on-site or by call.

Responsibilities

• Inspect at first piece, in-process, and final inspection per the Job Instructions Sheet.
• Record measurements and stamp quality paperwork with results.
• Use gages and inspection equipment correctly and maintain them.
• Meet with customers on-site or by phone to explain FAIs when needed.
• Maintain 5S and housekeeping within the inspection area.

FAI Quality Inspector

Location: Simpsonville, SC

Pay Range: $27-32/hr

Duration: 6 months

Required:

• Must have extensive knowledge of creating and reviewing FAIs.


• Perform job inspection at first piece, in process and final inspection per the Job Instructions Sheet plans.


• Knowledge of WHMA and IPC specifications


• Perform First Article Inspection (FAI) and Delta FAI per AS9102 requirements.


• Demonstrate proper use and maintenance of gages and inspection equipment.


• Perform proper documentation including inspection stamping of quality paperwork.


• Maintain and improve 5S standards on workstations and responsible areas.


• Adhere to company EH&S policies and guidelines.


• Review FAIs to ensure completion.


• Balloon Drawing for FAI completion.


• Meet with customers either on-site or via calls to explain FAIs, if needed.


• Able to communicate with all levels of the organization on the status of FAIs.

Preferred Skills (if any):

• Able to interpret technical (GD&T) drawings.


• Highly proficient in using hand held tools (micrometers, calipers, Optical Comparator and other measuring and test equipment.


• General proficiency of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word


• Good command of written and spoken English.


• Able to raise simple reports.


• Understand CORE tools.


• Certified Quality Inspector

Education/Experience:

High School Diploma/GED PLUS 6 years experience; in lieu of education AT LEAST 10 YEARS experience in the field*
