Job description

The University of California, Davis, School of Medicine, Department of Emergency Medicine is recruiting 3-4 full-time faculty members at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level in either the Health Sciences Clinical Professor (HSCP) clinician/educator track or the Clinical X (Clin X) clinician/researcher track. These positions offer an exceptional opportunity to join a nationally recognized department committed to excellence in clinical care, education, research, and community engagement.

Candidates must possess an MD or DO degree (or equivalent), ABEM board certification or eligibility in Emergency Medicine, and a valid California medical license or eligibility for licensure. Applicants should demonstrate experience teaching medical students, residents, and fellows, as well as the ability to work cooperatively and collegially within a diverse environment while adhering to institutional policies and procedures. Fellowship training with at least one year of post-training clinical experience is preferred.

UC Davis Emergency Medicine provides comprehensive emergency services to a diverse and complex patient population across Northern California as a Level I Trauma Center, paramedic base station, and regional training center. The department maintains a fully accredited residency program, established in 1990, that now includes 60 residents, along with 11 fellowship programs spanning a broad range of emergency medicine subspecialties. Faculty play an integral role in both bedside and didactic teaching for residents, medical students, fellows, and rotating trainees. The department consistently ranks among the top emergency medicine programs nationally in NIH funding and participates in the federally funded SIREN (adult) and PECARN (pediatric) emergency care research networks. Faculty benefit from a robust research infrastructure and an academic environment that fosters innovation, collaboration, and the translation of discoveries into clinical practice.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to clinical excellence, scholarship, and education. Responsibilities include delivering outstanding patient care, teaching and mentoring learners at all levels of training, and advancing the department’s academic mission through research, educational innovation, leadership, and service, as appropriate to the faculty series. Candidates should also demonstrate a commitment to mentoring a diverse learner population and supporting academic success and professional development.The salary range for this position is $160,900-$422,300, commensurate with qualifications, experience, and academic rank. This position includes membership in the Health Sciences Compensation Plan.

This recruitment will remain open until filled through June 30, 2027.

This position may, at times, require the incumbent to work with or in areas where hazardous materials and/or infectious diseases are present. Specific hazards may include, but are not limited to, treating patients with Hepatitis B, HIV, and other infectious diseases, as well as patients who may inflict physical harm.
