Excelsior University invites applications for a pool of part-time instructors and lab facilitators for its undergraduate Electrical Engineering Technology program, based at the St. Petersburg site with online and in-person labs.

Responsibilities include facilitating hybrid lab sessions, engaging adult learners, providing feedback, and ensuring safety and outcomes alignment across courses ELEC152–ELEC161. Master’s in EE or related field required with 2+ years industry experience.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering Technology, or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of industry or technical experience.
  • Ability to support both asynchronous online instruction and in‑person lab facilitation.
  • Familiarity with standard laboratory equipment and safety protocols.

  • Guide students through applied learning activities such as: DC and AC circuit analysis and troubleshooting; Breadboarding and prototyping; Use of oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators, and simulation tools; Semiconductor device testing and amplifier design; Operational amplifier circuits, filters, and frequency response analysis.
  • Challenge students’ thinking and support critical analysis across perspectives and settings.
  • Provide timely, substantive, and constructive feedback on assignments and lab performance.
  • Maintain clear academic standards and support student success through ongoing communication and responsiveness.
  • Maintain safe, functional, and industry‑relevant lab environments.
  • Collaborate with faculty, site staff, and technicians to ensure a seamless hybrid learning experience.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of Excelsior’s hybrid instructional model.

Excelsior University is advancing its hybrid learning model and building a dynamic pool of part‑time faculty and lab instructors to support our undergraduate Electrical Engineering Technology (EET) program. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of applied engineering education while working with adult learners developing real‑world, career‑ready skills.

Program Description

Our hybrid EET program blends the flexibility of asynchronous online learning with the power of hands‑on, in‑person labs at our St. Petersburg site. Courses are delivered in an 8‑week format, with the majority of content—topic discussions, assignments, and theory—offered asynchronously. On‑site lab sessions are typically 3 hours, held in the evenings every other week to provide hands‑on, applied learning that complements online instruction.

Course Assignments
  • ELEC152 – Circuit Theory I: Fundamentals of circuit analysis (DC circuits, power, energy, circuit theorems)
  • ELEC153 – Circuit Theory II: AC circuit analysis (phasors, impedance, resonance, filters)
  • ELEC160 – Electronics I: Semiconductor devices, biasing, amplifier design
  • ELEC161 – Electronics II: Advanced electronics including operational amplifiers, filters, oscillators, and high‑frequency circuits
Key Responsibilities

Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to integrate workforce‑relevant skills into instruction

Compensation

Compensation is provided at a rate of $1,000 per credit hour per course, with low‑enrollment courses paid at a directed study rate. The salary range reflects the University’s good faith estimate at the time of posting.
