GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES: The EarlyChildhood Education Faculty is a 9-month position that isresponsible for development and implementation of curriculum andinstruction in the program areas of Early Childhood Education,Educator Preparation, and Child and Family Studies. This full-timefaculty position works the equivalent of 30 load points peracademic year that may be a combination of instruction, committeework, and other academic related activities. Provides academic andcareer advisement to Early Childhood Education majors. Conductsextensive travel to NPC campuses, centers, and early childhoodsettings throughout the NPC service area; serves on collegecommittees; and engages in professional activities.
The Early Childhood Education faculty teaches courses and monitorspracticum experiences of the undergraduate courses within the Educator Preparation Programs department , as well as othercourses for which they are qualified and assigned; teaches in avariety of environments and modes (team-taught offerings, dayofferings, evening offerings, online offerings, hybrid offerings,etc.) in accordance with course outlines and instructionalprocedures; integrates technology with instruction; assessesstudents in relation to institutional goals, program goals, andcourse objectives; maintains appropriately scheduled office hours;develops good working relationships with discipline-relatedprofessionals in the College’s Service area; collaborates andparticipates in AZTransfer to foster transferability opportunities;serves as a community resource in area of expertise; and is activein one’s field of expertise.
- Teach a minimum of 30 load hours per academic year, atvaried times and locations and using a variety of teaching deliverysystems (including video, distance, online) within the qualifieddiscipline.
- Participate in the planning, development, andevaluationContinual Improvement of curriculum, including assessmentof student learning, and program review.
- Maintain accurate student records.
- Maintain regular office hours and meet all instructionaldeadline.
- Serve on program Advisory Councils, Committees, and ArticulationTask Forces
- Provide input for budgets, book orders, and, semesterschedules.
- Engage in creative and scholarly activities within thediscipline.
- Maintain industry recognized certification in assigneddiscipline, as required.
- Positively support and promote college’s governing board,administrators, faculty, staff, students and communities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Teaching responsibilitiesmay include but are not restricted to undergraduate courses in early childhood education . Other courses may be developedto fit the successful candidate’s expertise and program demand asapproved by the appropriate Dean.
In addition, the successful candidate may
- Coordinate the planning, coordination, and organization ofcourses and internship experiences.
- Engage in creative and scholarly activities within thedisciplines of Early Childhood and Child & Family Studies,including knowledge of state education systems, state standards forinfants/toddlers; preschool age; and K-3.
- Be familiar with early childhood employment requirementsrelated to Head Start and state K-3 teacher certification.
- Remain current in the subject matter areas and in thetechniques of effective instruction.
- Participate in department activities, school meetings, programreview, and serve on college committees as required to maintain andimprove the instructional program.
- Develop and maintain outreach and cooperative activities.
- Provide input on departmental and related grant budgets.
- Assist with articulation issues, marketing, and workshops.
- Provide supportive, relationship-based academic and careeradvisement.

Minimum Qualifications
- Master's degree in Early Childhood Education, or closely relateddiscipline such as Early Intervention, Early Childhood SpecialEducation, Child Development, Child and Family Studies, etc. orMaster’s degree in Education with either 18 graduate credits inearly childhood or an early childhood teaching endorsement;
- One year of experience teaching in higher education;
- Five (5) years teaching experience in an early childhood (B-8)environment;
- Knowledge of state and national standards for early childhoodprofessional training and development.
Valid Arizona driver’s license
IVP Card with Level 1 Clearance (as required by ADE Certificationand DHS licensing).
- Doctorate in Early Childhood Education or closely relatedfield.
- Five (5) years of experience teaching in higher education,particularly using distance education tools.
- Arizona Department of Education Literacy Endorsed
- Arizona Department of Education SEI (Structured EnglishImmersion) Endorsed
- Administrative experience in an early childhoodenvironment.
