Job summary

PBE Axell is seeking a Plant Manager to lead a fast paced manufacturing environment with a strong customer service focus. You will drive safety, quality, on-time delivery and cost efficiency by coaching teams, setting clear goals, and ensuring materials and tooling are available for production.

Develop and implement action plans, manage budgeting, and partner with engineering, HR, and services to align with business strategy while building a high‑performing culture.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, supply chain, or a related field required.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • 5–10 years of operational experience in a manufacturing plant manager role, with engineering or electrical manufacturing background essential.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate across functions to plan, resource, implement, and deliver products or projects on time.
  • Achieve KPIs for Safety, Quality, On Time Delivery, Productivity and Cost.
  • Coach and develop teams, drive a zero-injury culture, and ensure safe, efficient operations.
  • Oversee materials, CNC shop, production floor, and coordination with shipping for best practices.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and alignment of operational plans with business goals.

Job description

The role of the Plant Manager is to serve as a customer service focused leader for both our employees and our customers. This leader will be responsible for driving safety, operational excellence and financial performance. In this role, you will establish clear goals and a vision for the future of the plant by setting your teams up for success, providing coaching and support, and working in collaboration with your teams to ensure that appropriate materials are readily available for product manufacturing. You will oversee the flow of parts inventory, our CNC machine shop operations, the production floor, and work in conjunction with shipping to establish best practices with a focus on efficiency and attention to detail.

You will ensure achievement of our KPIs in relation to Safety, Quality, On Time Delivery, Productivity/ Efficiency and Cost. Your role will include being a motivational leader, monitoring production on a day-to-day basis., driving team goal accomplishments in a positive light, celebrating positive benchmarks for your teams, and staying engaged with team members while upholding our company standards for accountability and excellence in our field.

Responsibilities
  1. Work in collaboration, and partner across functions to plan, resource, implement, and deliver products or projects on time. Key teams you will be partnering with may include engineering, test, production, shipping, buying/sourcing, services, off site locations, and HR.
  2. Ensure achievement of our KPIs in relation to Safety, Quality, On Time Delivery, Productivity/ Efficiency and Cost.
  3. Identify areas of growth and implement action plans to drive efficiency
  4. Build an engaged, professional, and high‑performing culture with a focus on safety, quality, and positive growth
  5. Be a leader of change to assist in realigning our teams with current business strategies and goals
  6. Coach and develop team members to be cross functional and motivated to grow within the company
  7. Be a pro‑active advocate for a zero‑injury environment across all teams
  8. Work in conjunction with quality to strengthen customer satisfaction and assist in supporting services when customer satisfaction identifies a need for support
  9. Respond proactively to customer needs, including delivery requirements, any adjustments to customer timelines, or special requests
  10. Oversee facility maintenance and tooling needs to ensure our facility and employees have a safe and productive environment to perform duties in
  11. Guide plant teams in material management, productivity, improvements, labor and overhead, and budgeting as required
  12. Own and manage your operational plan in alignment with overall business needs, forecasting, and goals.
Education / Work Experience
  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in engineering, supply chain, or in a related field required; Master preferred
  • 5‑10 years of operational experience in a manufacturing plant manager role - engineering or electrical manufacturing backgrounds essential
Physical Demands

While performing duties, the employee may be required to sit for periods of time at a computer or desk, work with their hands to assemble, pack, or process boxes; stand, walk, reach, climb or balance, stoop, kneel and crouch to process shipments. The employee must frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds.

Capabilities / Skills
  • Demonstrated success leading manufacturing teams in technical and fast paced environments
  • Customer service skills to apply to both staff and customers should include: customer focus, financial and operational accountability, relationship building and management, critical thinking, inventory management, problem solving, change management, conflict resolution, strategic thinking, time management, etc.
  • Able to communicate effectively through written and verbal methods
  • Computer skills should include extensive knowledge in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams. Experience utilizing Jeeves and Jira is a bonus.
  • Ability to maintain and foster a safe, organized, positive work area
  • Able to adapt to a fast-paced environment
  • Able to motivate teams to shift to new timelines, projects, or workloads as necessary
  • Attention to detail and ability to self‑correct or correct team members as needed
  • Ability to prioritize workflow
  • Able to lift heavy loads up to 75 pounds on occasion
  • Ability to learn, and stay up to date, with manufacturing best practices
  • Ability to learn product line and processes
  • Ability to take verbal and/or written instruction
  • Ability to effectively utilize a pallet jack
  • Ability to work with HR and teams in employment matters
