Job summary

TSMC is seeking a Facility VDC/BIM Technician to support on-site fabrication facilities in Phoenix, AZ. You will create CAD drawings and 3D BIM models, coordinate with contractors, perform clash detection, and help define space usage workflows.

You will document SOPs and track model progress, ensuring accurate, up-to-date models for facility systems. The role requires extensive BIM experience, strong communication, and on-site availability; a BIM certificate is highly desired.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience with BIM software (AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks) is required.
  • Dynamo knowledge is a plus.
  • Construction/design experience; MEP/building design preferred.
  • VDC/BIM and space management in semiconductor/fab environments a plus.
  • Experience at real construction sites is required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and English fluency.

Responsibilities

  • Create CAD drawings and 3D BIM models for facilities systems and buildings.
  • Coordinate with contractors to ensure drawing and model quality.
  • Perform 3D clash detection and resolve clashes with subcontractors.
  • Develop space usage principles and workflows with space managers and engineers.
  • Generate space management drawings and maintain model versions.
  • Communicate with users, collect design information, and coordinate meetings.
  • Document SOPs and maintain project documentation.
  • Schedule and track progress of 3D models and coordination drawings.
  • Conduct onsite facility verification, spot checks, and measurements.

Facility VDC/BIM Technician

A job at TSMC Arizona offers an opportunity to work at the most advanced semiconductor fab in the United States. TSMC Arizona’s first fab will operate its leading-edge semiconductor process technology (N4 process), starting production in the first half of 2025. The second fab will utilize its leading‑edge N3 and N2 process technology and be operational in 2028. The recently announced third fab will manufacture chips using 2nm or more advanced process technology, with production starting by the end of the decade. Job Description
  • Work with BIM managers and engineers to create CAD drawings and 3D BIM models for facility systems and buildings.
  • Coordinate with contractors and subcontractors to ensure drawing/BIM model quality and coordination.
  • Conduct 3D clash detection using Navisworks and coordinate with subcontractors to resolve clashes.
  • Collaborate with space managers and engineers to develop space usage principles and workflows.
  • Generate space management drawings.
  • Communicate across the organization, collect design information from users, and coordinate meetings for system engineers and users to align design requirements.
  • Document and maintain CAD drawings and 3D model versions.
  • Take meeting minutes, consolidate lessons learned, and create Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and documentation.
  • Schedule and track the progress of 3D models and space management coordination drawings.
  • Conduct onsite facility system verification, spot checks, and measurements to ensure systems are installed correctly as modeled.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Extensive experience in BIM software, such as AutoCAD, Revit, and Navisworks, is required.
  • Knowledge of Dynamo software is a plus.
  • Previous construction/design work experience is required; experience with MEP and building design is preferred.
  • Semiconductor factory VDC/BIM and space management experience considered a plus.
  • Experience working at a construction site is required.
  • Good communication skills and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Effective written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office software.
  • Fluency in English speaking, reading, and writing.
  • Daily onsite work is required; remote work is not an option.
  • B.S. degree in Architectural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related fields is considered a plus.
  • A professional certificate in BIM modeling is highly desired.

Candidates must be willing and able to work on‑site at our Phoenix Arizona facility.
