Job summary

NextGenEnergyJobs is seeking a Facility Technician to perform maintenance and repairs on buildings and common areas to ensure proper functioning of machinery, equipment and systems. The role focuses on preventing breakdowns and maintaining a safe, compliant work environment.

The ideal candidate has 3-5 years in facilities maintenance, a Building Maintenance Technology diploma/certificate, and possibly HVAC certification.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years experience in general facilities maintenance.
• Diploma/certificate in Building Maintenance Technology or comparable program preferred.
• HVAC Certification preferred.
• Able to work 12 hour day or night shift.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Work independently to complete general building maintenance including flooring, lighting, plumbing, carpentry, locking and painting.
• Schedule preventative maintenance services including HVAC, plumbing, alarming, roof, locking, landscaping, fire protection and lighting systems.
• Monitor and evaluate building maintenance contracts and service work.
• Collaborate with other departments on cost reduction projects.
• Participate in safety activities and promote safe work practices.
• Adhere to environmental, health and safety rules and policies.
• Support ISO 9001 activities.
• Conduct other duties as required.

Job description

The Facility Technician is responsible for performing maintenance and repairs to buildings and common areas to ensure proper functioning of machinery, equipment, facilities and applicable systems, and to prevent breakdowns.

Key Responsibilities

• Work independently to complete general building maintenance, including maintaining flooring, lighting, plumbing, carpentry, locking and painting
• Schedule preventative maintenance services, including HVAC, plumbing, alarming, roof, locking, landscaping, fire protection and lighting system
• Monitor and evaluate building maintenance contract and service work
• Work collaboratively with other departments on cost reduction projects
• Participate in all safety related activities, including reinforcing and creating an environment that fosters and requires safe work practices
• Ensure that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the Canadian Solar Solution Code of Business Conduct
• Support ISO 9001 activities
• Adhere to all environmental, health and safety rules and policies
• Conduct other duties as required

Requirements
