Job summary

City of Maple Grove, MN is seeking a part-time Parks & Recreation facility supervisor to ensure a safe, welcoming environment for visitors. The role involves hosting duties, enforcing policies, and coordinating event setup according to permits.

You’ll monitor behavior, respond to emergencies, and provide basic first aid while maintaining reports and communicating with supervisors. Flexible days include mornings, evenings, holidays, and weekends.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Able to lift and move equipment up to 50 lbs. without assistance.
  • Able to lift and move tables, chairs, and equipment up to 100 lbs. with assistance.
  • Experience in crowd control or supervision is a plus.
  • Experience with sports or sports equipment setup is helpful.
  • CPR certification and First Aid training preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Enforce park policies and supervise facility use in accordance with posted permits.
  • Provide quality customer service and address concerns.
  • Monitor safety, security, and emergency procedures onsite.
  • Coordinate setup and teardown for events and activities.
  • Complete daily reports and communicate issues to supervisor.
  • Attend trainings and meetings as scheduled.
  • Perform cleaning and light maintenance duties.
  • Assist in coordinating facility operations as needed.

We provide public safety, public works, community and economic development, parks & recreation and many other important public services to a growing community.

The Position

The Parks & Recreation facility/site supervisors are responsible for creating a safe and welcoming environment for visitors of the City of Maple Grove.

This position acts as host/hostess of the facility and is responsible for quality customer service delivery in the areas of supervision, monitoring of facility and program activities in the facility while providing appropriate customer contact and facilitating proper security and emergency procedures in the sports facilites.

Hours are part-time, and vary between Monday-Friday; evenings - Saturday-Sunday; days and evenings

  • Have a thorough understanding of all Maple Grove Parks and Recreation Board policies and procedures.
  • Enforce established policies, including the noise level, neatness and supervision. Resolve customer concerns in accordance with standards of procedures.
  • Monitors and responds to behavior, safety and emergency situations.
  • Direct facility usage to include adhering scheduled start/end times in accordance to the issued permits for usage to the public.
  • Ensures facility and/or equipment set-up and tear downs for events are completed in a timely manner. Completes all preparation requirements in accordance to permit requirements.
  • Facilitates proper use of equipment provided to facility users.
  • Administers basic first aid and directs emergency procedures in the event of an emergency.
  • Assists in coordination and monitoring of facility operations.
  • Performs general cleaning and light maintenance duties.Keep park building and park area clean a free of debris.
  • Performs daily verbal and/or written communication and completes necessary reports accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Communicates issues to direct supervisor.
  • Attends meetings and training as scheduled.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Ability to:
  • Interact with the public, co-workers, and supervisor in a professional manner.
  • Work by oneself with no direct supervision.
  • Make decisions using judgment and problem-solving skills.
  • Follow through and adhere to details defined on permits.
  • Accurately complete reports.
  • Flexible schedule to include early morning to late evening, holidays, and weekends.
  • Operate technical and mechanical equipment.
  • Skills in basic personal computer operation.
  • Stand or sit for long periods of time.
  • Tolerate moderate noise levels.
Need to have:
  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Able to lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. without assistance.
  • Able to lift and move tables, chairs, and equipment weighing up to 100 lbs. with assistance.
Nice to have:
  • Experience working in crowd control and facility supervision.
  • Experience with sports or sports equipment use and set up.
  • Experience in performing custodial/cleaning and maintenance duties.
  • Current C.P.R. certification and Red Cross Basic First Aide training preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Environmental Conditions:

Ability to work in outdoor environments. Exposure to all weather conditions and may require travel to various locations within the city.

Physical Conditions:

Physically able to sit and stand for long periods of time, and able lift and team lift for set up and take down of various events.
