Job summary

K2 Space is seeking a Facility Security Officer (FSO) to lead our industrial security program, ensuring compliance with 32 CFR Part 117, NISPOM, and DoD/customer security requirements.

You'll partner closely with the Head of Facilities, IT Security & Compliance Lead, and government security stakeholders to safeguard classified information across multiple sensitivity levels and build a strong security culture as K2 scales.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Submit and maintain FCL sponsorship packages and ensure ongoing FOCI compliance.
• Develop and deliver security training (SCG, CUI, OPSEC) with the SETA team.
• Own the full lifecycle of classified information in line with NISPOM and ICD requirements.
• Prepare and maintain Program Protection Plans, Security Classification Guides, and Transportation Security Plans.

The Role

K2 Space is seeking a Facility Security Officer (FSO) to lead our industrial security program, ensuring compliance with 32 CFR Part 117, NISPOM, and DoD/customer security requirements. You'll partner closely with the Head of Facilities, IT Security & Compliance Lead, and government security stakeholders to safeguard classified information across multiple sensitivity levels and build a strong security culture as K2 scales.

This is a high-impact, largely independent role for a self-motivated security professional ready to work across the full organization — from Program Managers and Engineering to Legal, HR, and IT.

Main Responsibilities:

• Submit and maintain Facility Clearance (FCL) sponsorship packages; ensure ongoing FOCI compliance
• Keep business lines informed of upcoming security requirements; update SF312s and work with Legal to keep DCSA organizational records current
• Develop and deliver security training — SCG, CUI, and OPSEC — with the SETA team and Program Managers; manage and maintain NISS
• Provide security-section input for RFPs, BAAs, and related proposal documentation
• Review PWS/SOWs and generate DD Form 254s, providing guidance on flow-down security requirements
• Conduct security briefings, including indoctrinations, annual refresher training, and event-driven sessions
• Investigate suspected security infractions or violations, document findings, and recommend corrective action
• Own the full lifecycle of classified information — safeguarding, tracking, storage, reproduction, destruction, and secure transmission (marking, wrapping, mailing) — in line with NISPOM and ICD requirements
• Prepare and maintain Program Protection Plans, Security Classification Guides, and Transportation Security Plans
• Support the ISSM/ISSO with classified information systems maintenance and monitoring
• Respond to after-hours alarms and security incidents as needed
• Report key site and program security status to the Director of Security

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
• Active Top Secret/SCI clearance
• 10+ years as a Facility Security Officer or Security Manager supporting DoD and Intelligence Community programs
• Strong command of NISPOM,and DoD security protocols
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience briefing executives, employees, and government stakeholders

Compensation and Benefits:

• Base salary range for this role is $120,000 - $170,000 + equity in the company
• Salary will be based on several factors including, but not limited to: knowledge and skills, education, and experience level
