Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or equivalent engineering field.
• Proven experience managing facility engineering, construction, or capital projects in pharma/biotech/Life Sciences.
• Strong multi-project leadership with budgeting, scheduling, and contractor oversight.
• Experience with GMP/GxP environments and regulatory expectations.

About the Opportunity

Our client is a growing organization in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical manufacturing industry, supporting the development and production of advanced therapies. They are seeking an experienced Facility Project Manager to oversee engineering, construction, and facility capital projects at their New Jersey campus.

This role is ideal for a project management professional with experience leading capital projects within GMP-regulated manufacturing environments. You'll collaborate with engineering firms, contractors, consultants, landlords, and internal stakeholders to successfully execute facility improvements and expansion projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage multiple facility services, engineering, and construction capital projects ranging from $50K to $30M.
• Lead projects through all phases, from planning and contractor selection to execution and closeout.
• Coordinate engineering firms, construction contractors, equipment vendors, CQV consultants, and service providers.
• Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
• Manage capital budgets, purchase orders, contracts, and change orders while ensuring projects remain on schedule and within budget.
• Prepare project status updates, financial reports, and executive presentations.
• Build strong working relationships with contractors, consultants, landlords, and internal business partners.
• Ensure project deliverables meet user requirements, quality standards, and regulatory expectations.
• Conduct site walkthroughs (Gemba Walks) and support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Manage controlled facility drawings, document revisions, and qualification-related updates.
• Support site security processes, including badge administration, access management, and security incident resolution.
• Coordinate with Operations, Facilities, Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, and other cross-functional teams to ensure successful project execution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or another engineering discipline.
• Proven experience managing facility engineering, construction, or capital projects within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or life sciences industry.
• Strong project management experience with the ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously.
• Experience developing project budgets, schedules, capital plans, and contractor management strategies.
• Familiarity with estimating, bidding, contract administration, and change order management.
• Experience working with engineering firms, construction contractors, landlords, and regulatory agencies.
• Understanding of GMP/GxP manufacturing environments and facility engineering best practices.
• Knowledge of biologics, cell & gene therapy, plasmid DNA, viral vectors, or other advanced manufacturing processes is a plus.
• Excellent communication, organization, and stakeholder management skills.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Project is highly preferred.
• PMP certification or equivalent project management credential is considered an advantage.
