Job summary

MultiCare Health System is seeking an Operation Engineer II for the Facility Operations team. You will oversee boiler room operations, HVAC systems, and hospital infrastructure to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient facilities across the health system.

Requirements include a high school diploma and a potential Tacoma Engineer License II, with at least four years in building mechanical and electrical operations. EMCS experience and a valid WA driver’s license are preferred.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate preferred.
  • City of Tacoma Engineer License II (or obtain within 90 days of hire) depending on location.
  • Accomplished in steam, HVAC, and basic electrical related to plant operations and maintenance.
  • Minimum four (4) years of experience directly related to operations and maintenance of building mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Computer and EMCS experience preferred.
  • Valid Washington State driver’s license and proof of safe driving record.

Position Summary

The Operation Engineer II is an intermediate level opportunity on our Facility Operations team. In this role, you will ensure MultiCare patients and families have the best possible experience when visiting facilities across our health system.

Responsibilities
  • You will oversee the safe and efficient operations of the gas and electric boilers, HVAC, air compressors, pumps, emergency generators, and other auxiliary equipment
  • You will oversee the safe and efficient operations of the hospital's infrastructure, ensuring maintaining all regulatory compliance
  • You will monitor and assign work orders to ensure timely completion.
  • You will perform tasks pertaining to the boiler room and steam distribution system
  • You will perform rounds and inspections of machine rooms and roof areas

Additional Requirements for Allenmore Hospital Include:
  • Washington State Department of Ecology, UST Class A/B Certification Medical gas ASSE 6040 certification
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience operating in a lead/supervisory capacity
Additional Requirements for Mary Bridge Children's Hospital Include:
  • Completion of Vocational Trade/Tech certification program or Certificate of Licensure in the identified areas
  • Medical gas ASSE 6040 certification obtained within 18 months of hire.
  • City of Tacoma Engineer License Level IV or above required within 12 months of hire
  • ASHE Certified Health Care Physical Environment Worker required within 6 months of hire

Pay and Benefit Expectations

We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $32.07 - $53.01 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education.
