The Building People, LLC is seeking an experienced Facility Manager with Secret Clearance to provide federal client support across a variety of government buildings and construction projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Effectively manage an assigned portfolio of projects addressing challenges related to space acquisition, budgeting, cost management, scheduling, estimating, construction, space reconfiguration, tenant outfitting, project administration, program management, logistics, furniture, and general building upkeep.
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum of four years experience providing facility management support activities.
- Proficient in speaking, understanding, reading, and writing in English.
- Experience in furniture assembly, disassembly, transport, crate, uncrate, and basic furniture parts and pieces.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move 40–60 lb boxes using hand trucks or dollies; walk and stand for extended periods and climb ladders.
- Experience handling post‑move punch list items including box and trash removal, furniture cleaning, and minor repairs.
- Ability to set up conference room spaces for multiple users and configurations, including VTC setup.
- Ability to assist with special projects as needed (food‑bank collection, copier‑paper distribution, recycling).
- Drive agency‑provided vehicle within the metro area to assist DHS employees who require transportation.
- Escort visitors or contractors in SECRET areas as required.
- Proficiency with general hand tools such as hammer, screwdriver, drill, voltmeter, and vacuum cleaner.
- Valid driver’s license, good driving record, and qualification to operate an agency vehicle with automatic transmission.
- Prepare finished products for shipment or storage in appropriate shipping containers.
- Perform minor repairs and services to maintain motorized and electric vehicles/carts (decals, batteries, tires, cleaning, grease and oils, spark plugs, filters, etc.).
- Knowledge of small construction and remodeling trades, including trim work, painting, door installation, electrical and video wiring, TV/projector installation, window installation, blueprint reading, and mathematical calculations for material estimates.
- Verify materials against receiving documents, report discrepancies, manage inventory, store and palletize materials, and handle heavy equipment movements.
- Spread sand and salt on icy roads and walkways; pick up leaves and trash.
- Pass a DHS “suitability” background investigation.
- Hold SECRET clearance and be able to gain ready access to DHS locations without escort.
- Be prepared for government‑direct background screening and clearance.
- Telework arrangements subject to change based on customer requirements.
