Inspiration Hills Camp & Retreat Center is seeking a Facility Manager to oversee upkeep of all camp buildings and grounds and to work with the Camp Director on improvements and strategic plans for future use. The role involves coordinating with contractors, scheduling staff, and ensuring facilities meet county, state, and federal codes.

The Facility Manager at Inspiration Hills Camp is responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of all camp buildings and grounds, and works with the Camp Director to implement needed improvements and strategic plans for future use of the camp.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent facility management experience preferred
A minimum of five years supervisory experience preferred
A minimum of two years facility management experience preferred
Working with outside contractors and facility staff to ensure that the care and maintenance of all camp buildings and grounds meet or exceed county, state, and federal codes in all areas.
Maintaining a housekeeping schedule in conjunction with the camp schedule to assure that facilities and grounds are ready for incoming guests groups.
Scheduling personnel and assigning tasks to maintenance/housekeeping staff and volunteer workers in conjunction with weekly retreats and summer camp schedules.
Direct supervision and training of maintenance/housekeeping staff and volunteer workers.
Ensure that mowing is completed in designated areas during the summer months.
Maintenance of ample supplies of firewood for all seasons.
Trail maintenance and maintenance of recreational areas.
Weed/debris control in lake and outlying areas.
Ensure that waterfall and pond are maintained year-round.
Oversee the maintenance/testing of waste water treatment plant and maintain required EPA records.
Oversee the maintenance/testing of the fresh water wells, water softening system, chlorinator, and holding tanks, and maintain required EPA records.
Ensure that all monitoring logs for maintenance tasks, facility equipment, and vehicles are current.
Maintain files for all facility equipment and purchases including owner's manuals, date of purchase, and repair records in camp office.
Work with vendors to assure consistent and fair pricing on chemicals, paper products, maintenance products, fuel, and building supplies.
Ensure and monitor appropriate levels of all maintenance supplies and chemicals.
Meet with the Camp Director on a weekly basis to discuss current projects, capital improvements, and strategic plans.
Reporting problems or concerns immediately to the Camp Director.
Work with the Camp Director and Maintenance and Development Committee to plan capital expenditures.
Manage the facility/housekeeping budget within the guidelines given by the Camp Director.
Share with the Camp Director in taking on-site on-call duties at least one weekend a month, serving as the primary emergency responder for facility-related crises during on-call times.
Asset Management: Responsible for maintaining a digital or physical "Asset Register" for all major equipment (HVAC, pumps, vehicles, etc.) to track depreciation and replacement cycles.
Winterization/De-winterization: Seasonal opening and closing of seasonal buildings and water lines to prevent pipe bursts and property damage.
Fleet Management: Oversight of routine maintenance for camp-owned vehicles, tractors, ATVs, Golf Carts, and other equipment.
Preventative Maintenance: Develop and execute a 52-week PM calendar.
Fire & Life Safety: Monthly inspection of fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, and emergency lighting. Coordinate annual professional fire alarm/sprinkler inspections.
ADA Compliance: Ensure camp grounds and buildings remain compliant with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards where applicable.
ACA Compliance: Ensure camp grounds and buildings remain compliant with American Camping Association Standards where applicable.
Permit Management: Responsible for obtaining and maintaining all necessary local building, occupancy, and health department permits.
Contractor Liability: Ensure all contractors provide proof of insurance and workers' compensation before beginning on-site work.
Assistance in all other areas of the camp as needed as assigned by the Executive Director to meet the operational needs of the ministry.
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position, with or without a reasonable accommodation:
Mobility & Terrain Navigation: Must possess the physical ability to continuously stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, and navigate up to 200 acres of raw outdoor terrain daily. This includes walking on unpaved paths, steep hills, muddy terrain, and slippery limestone shale ravines under all weather conditions.
Strength & Lifting: Ability to regularly lift, push, pull, and carry heavy loads up to 50 lbs unassisted, and occasionally up to 100 lbs with team assistance (e.g., green logs, commercial equipment, maintenance supplies).
Manual Dexterity: Continuous capability to safely operate, grip, control, and manipulate heavy hand tools, chainsaws, commercial mowers, and heavy fleet machinery (tractors, brush hogs, ATVs).
Climbing & Spatial Awareness: Ability to safely climb ladders, scaffolding, and steep stairs, and to work comfortably in cramped, confined spaces such as attics, basements, and facility crawl spaces.
Immersive Outdoor Labor: This position requires extensive outdoor physical labor in extreme and changing Midwestern weather conditions, including severe summer heat, high humidity, freezing winter rain, snow, and dense mud.
Crisis Response & Stamina: The employee must maintain the physical stamina required to serve as the primary on-call emergency responder for facility-related crises, which may require rapid physical deployment across the camp property during night or weekend hours.
