Novant Health is seeking a Facility Maintenance Technician II to join our Plant Engineering team. This second-shift role includes a weekend rotation and opportunities to grow within a leading healthcare system.

You will perform maintenance and repairs across hospital facilities, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general building tasks, while delivering friendly, professional service to patients, visitors, and staff.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Two years of healthcare facility maintenance experience required.
• Basic understanding of MEP systems.
• Valid driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and repairs throughout the hospital, including HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, and grounds.
• Find and fix a variety of maintenance problems.
• Complete general repairs such as unclogging plumbing and drywall.
• Respond to work requests and scheduled maintenance in a timely manner.
• Safely use hand and power tools.
• Follow safety rules, building codes, and Environment of Care standards.
• Provide friendly and professional service to patients, visitors, and team members.
• Work as part of the Plant Engineering team and with other hospital departments.

What We Offer

Our Plant Engineering team helps maintain a safe, comfortable environment for patients, families, and team members. As a Facility Maintenance Technician II, you'll perform a variety of general maintenance and repair work, from plumbing and HVAC to building repairs and upkeep.

This is a second-shift position with a weekend rotation approximately every 7 weeks, offering steady, non-contract work and opportunities to grow with Novant Health.

What You'll Do

• Perform maintenance and repairs throughout the hospital, including:

  • HVAC systems
  • Mechanical and utility systems
  • Plumbing systems
  • Grounds and exterior areas
• Find and fix a variety of maintenance problems
• Complete general repairs such as unclogging plumbing, repairing drywall, and other building repairs
• Respond to work requests and scheduled maintenance in a timely manner

What We're Looking For

Education

• High School Diploma or GED, required

Experience

• Two years of experience performing plant operations and general maintenance in a healthcare facility or similar work environment, required
• Basic understanding of all MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) systems

Licensure or Certifications

• Valid driver's license, required

Additional Skills - Required

• Ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific skills validation and competency testing
• Ability to apply customer satisfaction standards
• Knowledge of a variety of hand and power tools used in facility maintenance
• Ability to interact with individuals of all cultures and levels of authority

Additional Skills

• Broad knowledge of the principles, operation, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical, plumbing, and HVAC equipment
• Broad knowledge of building, electrical, and fire codes and The Joint Commission Environment of Care standards
• Ability to read and understand blueprints and electrical schematics
