Job summary

Planet Fitness is seeking a Maintenance Technician to uphold a safe, clean, and fully operational club environment. You will perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot, and repair facility and fitness equipment to minimize downtime and ensure a positive member experience.

You will work closely with club management to complete work orders promptly, maintain brand standards, and ensure life-safety systems and facilities meet high standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine facility maintenance inspections and address safety concerns.
• Complete preventative maintenance on equipment and club facilities.
• Repair or coordinate repairs for cardio and strength equipment, tanning beds, HydroMassage units, and other amenities.
• Maintain HVAC, lighting, plumbing, electrical, doors, flooring, ceilings, and walls.
• Ensure restrooms and locker rooms are clean and functional; respond to maintenance requests promptly.
• Diagnose and repair fitness equipment; perform lubrication and component replacements as needed.
• Keep accurate maintenance logs and coordinate warranty or specialized service with vendors.

Position Summary

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and fully operational Planet Fitness club. This position performs preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and facility upkeep to ensure members and team members enjoy a positive experience in a clean, well-maintained environment. The Maintenance Technician will work closely with club management to complete work orders promptly, minimize equipment downtime, and uphold Planet Fitness brand standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Facility Maintenance

• Perform routine inspections of the club to identify maintenance needs and safety concerns.
• Complete preventative maintenance on fitness equipment and club facilities.
• Repair or coordinate repairs for cardio equipment, strength equipment, tanning beds, HydroMassage units, Total Body Enhancement machines, massage chairs, and other club amenities.
• Maintain HVAC systems, lighting, plumbing fixtures, electrical components, doors, locks, flooring, ceiling tiles, and walls.
• Ensure restrooms, locker rooms, showers, and common areas remain in excellent working condition.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency repairs.

Equipment Maintenance

• Diagnose and repair fitness equipment to minimize downtime.
• Perform scheduled lubrication, adjustments, calibration, and replacement of worn components.
• Maintain accurate maintenance logs for all equipment inspections and repairs.
• Coordinate with approved vendors for warranty repairs and specialized service.

Preventative Maintenance

• Follow established preventative maintenance schedules.
• Conduct regular inspections of life safety equipment, emergency lighting, fire extinguishers, AEDs, and exit signs.
• Monitor equipment performance and recommend replacement or upgrades when necessary.
• Ensure all maintenance work complies with company standards and local building codes.

Physical Requirements

• Frequently lift, push, and pull up to 75 pounds.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb ladders, and work overhead for extended periods.
• Comfortable working in varying temperatures and confined spaces when necessary.
• Ability to safely operate maintenance equipment and tools.

Work Schedule

• Full-time position.
• Flexible schedule including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs require.
• On-call availability for emergency maintenance situations may be required.
