Job summary

A leading agricultural company in Yuma, Arizona is seeking a Facility Maintenance Technician responsible for routine building maintenance to ensure functionality and safety. The ideal candidate will have over two years of relevant experience, be skilled in troubleshooting both mechanical and electrical systems, and have a commitment to safety and quality standards. Qualifications

  • Must have 2+ years in facility or equipment maintenance.
  • Ability to read and write in English, communicate in Spanish is a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents.

Job description

The Facility Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing routine building maintenance to ensure the facility remains safe, functional, and in good condition. Duties may include repairs, inspections, and preventive maintenance across electrical and mechanical systems, plumbing, HVAC, and general building infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Proficient in equipment Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) requirements.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on facility systems, including electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and HVAC.
  • Conduct regular inspections of buildings, grounds, and equipment to identify issues or potential hazards.
  • Monitor and maintain building safety systems (alarms, emergency lighting, fire extinguishers).
  • Perform minor carpentry, painting, and drywall repairs.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA, FDA, and GMP requirements as they relate to maintenance in a food-processing facility.
  • Troubleshoot and repair pneumatic control systems.
  • Weld stainless steel to food-grade quality standards.
  • Proficient in liquid pumping principles; able to read pump curves.
  • Rebuild liquid feed pumps (e.g., centrifugal and positive‑displacement types).
  • Install and set up equipment (e.g., drives, flow sensors) using vendor manuals/specifications.
  • Proficient in hydraulic system principles; troubleshoot and repair mechanical components.
  • Apply mechanical drive fundamentals (chain drives, sprockets, gearbox ratios).
  • Read piping diagrams and identify the function of components for air and water distribution systems.
  • Proficient with sodium hypochlorite (chlorine) and pH buffer (Smart Wash) injection systems.
  • Proficient with backup/emergency generators and electrical distribution systems.
  • Replace/repair mechanical components of automated equipment.
  • Rebuild gearboxes, power drives, and centrifugal pumps; replace mechanical shaft seals.
  • Proficient in sand filter operation and service.
  • Proficient with standard hand tools (wrenches, hammers, bearing pullers) and power tools (drills, grinders, cut‑off saws, impact wrenches).
  • Maintain and troubleshoot spin dryers.
  • Respond to trouble calls and emergencies as requested.
  • Program and troubleshoot variable frequency drives (VFDs).
  • Read electrical diagrams and identify components.
  • Troubleshoot systems up to 480 VAC with complex controls; wire three‑phase motors.
  • Troubleshoot central liquid‑chlorine and associated electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of low‑voltage control circuits used in automated equipment.
Education and/Or Experience
  • 2+ years’ experience in facility, building, or equipment maintenance.
  • Ability to obtain forklift certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Able to read and write in English and communicate in Spanish.
  • Able to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, equipment manuals, and technical documents.

  • Willingness and ability to work occasional long and sometimes irregular hours including working night shifts, weekends and holiday hours.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑pace environment, excellent time‑management skills, self‑motivated, attention to detail and accuracy, great organizational skills, and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work in a respectful and professional manner with all levels of employees.
  • Work onsite and meet position’s attendance schedule, as required by the job.
Work Environment

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is exposed to a cold (34‑36 degrees F) and wet manufacturing environment, the smell of chlorine and ammonia, outside weather conditions, uneven walking surfaces, heavy machinery, forklift traffic and loud noise.
