Job description

About Atomic Semi

Atomic Semi is building a small, fast semiconductor fab.

It’s already possible to build this with today’s technology and a few simplifications. We’ll build the tools ourselves so we can quickly iterate and improve.

We’re building a small team of exceptional, hands‑on engineers to make this happen. Mechanical, electrical, hardware, computer, and process. We’ll own the stack from atoms to architecture. Our team is optimistic about the future and we want to continue pushing the limits of technology.

Smaller is better. Faster is better. Building it ourselves is better.

We believe our team and lab can build anything. We’ve set up 3D printers, a wide array of microscopes, e‑beam writers, general fabrication equipment - and whatever is missing, we’ll just invent along the way.

Atomic was founded by Sam Zeloof and Jim Keller. Sam is best known for making chips in his garage, and Jim has been a leader in the semiconductor industry for the past 40 years.

About the role

We’re hiring a Facilities Technician to help keep our office, lab, and production spaces running smoothly day to day. This is a hands‑on role for someone who likes fixing things, building things, and solving problems on the spot.

You’ll work across our facilities — office, lab, and light industrial — handling maintenance, repairs, small builds, equipment setup, and vendor coordination. Some days you’ll be troubleshooting an issue on the floor, other days assembling furniture, running cable, supporting lab installs, or coordinating a contractor visit.

We’re a fast‑moving startup environment. Priorities change, things break, new equipment shows up, and spaces evolve. We’re looking for someone practical, reliable, and detail‑oriented who takes pride in keeping things working and safe. No task is too small. If it needs doing, we do it.

Responsibilities
  • Perform day‑to‑day facilities maintenance and repairs across office, lab, and production areas
  • Troubleshoot and fix issues with building systems, equipment, fixtures, and infrastructure
  • Handle small construction and install projects (furniture, shelving, basic electrical/mechanical work, cabling, etc.)
  • Support lab and R&D teams with equipment moves, setups, and facility needs
  • Coordinate and escort vendors and contractors when specialized work is required
  • Spot problems early and fix or elevate them before they become bigger issues
  • Help keep facilities safe, organized, and operational
  • Pitch in on one‑off projects and urgent fixes as they come up
Requirements
  • ~3+ years of hands‑on facilities, maintenance, or technical trade experience
  • Comfortable with general maintenance across electrical, mechanical, and building systems
  • Experience with preventative maintenance and basic troubleshooting
  • Able to work independently and figure things out without heavy oversight
  • Practical problem‑solver with a “get it done” mindset
  • Organized and reliable — you follow through and close loops
  • Comfortable working in an active lab or light industrial environment
  • Willing to occasionally work off‑hours if something urgent comes up
  • Familiar with basic safety practices and facility compliance requirements
Nice to have
  • Trade certification or technical training
  • Experience in semiconductor, hardware, lab, or manufacturing environments
  • Experience supporting fast‑growing or startup teams
  • Experience working with HVAC, MEP systems, or process equipment
