Job summary

The Charlotte County Airport Authority is hiring a full-time Facilities Technician at Punta Gorda Airport (PGD). Under the Maintenance Manager, you will maintain all airport facilities and support a great work culture with an excellent benefits package.

Responsibilities include electrical, plumbing, HVAC, masonry, painting and carpentry, plus upkeep of airfield lighting. A high school diploma and valid Florida driver's license are required; trade training is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general maintenance repairs across electrical, plumbing, HVAC, masonry, carpentry, and related areas.
  • Maintain airfield lighting in top condition.
  • Conduct hangar electrical maintenance as needed.
  • Polish and remove debris and litter from the property.
  • Operate equipment and use hand tools safely in daily duties.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

SUMMARY

Under the direction and guidance of the Maintenance Manager, is responsible for the maintenance of all airport facilities.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Handles general maintenance repairs, such as electrical, electronics, plumbing, HVAC, masonry, painting, metal fabrication and carpentry.
  • Maintains the airfield lighting in top condition.
  • Does hangar electrical maintenance.
  • Ensures all debris, trash and other foreign litter is policed and removed from property.
  • Operates equipment and uses hand tools safely in the performance of all duties.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Specialized trade training is preferred.
  • Valid Florida Driver's License.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
  • Able to problem solve independently or seek assistance.
  • Knowledge of general aviation property maintenance and procedures.
  • Skilled with aviation and ground base radio systems or similar equipment.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT
  • Requires 24-hour/7-day on-call status.
  • Capable of working in all weather conditions, including extreme heat.
  • Good visual acuity to work inside under artificial lighting and in bright sunlight.
  • Able to lift 70 pounds, push, pull, climb and walk for most of the day.
