The Facilities Manager/Technician is responsible for the repairs and maintenance of all facilities within a geographical region, acting as the contact for emergency situations that affect the campus’s ability to open for business. Additionally, the Facilities Manager/Technician will assess and consider daily 1) the safety of our employees, 2) the security of our assets, and 3) the service to our members. This position will coordinate/assist outside contractors or vendors for various services. The Facilities Manager/Technician will answer directly to Campus Administrators and then to the Director of Facilities and their staff.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

  • High School Diploma or GED, preferred
  • 2+ years’ experience in project management, certification in trade school, or equivalent work experience related to project management, vendor management, facilities, and/or maintenance preferred
  • Maintain a valid Texas driver’s license at all times throughout employment

Experience:

Essential Performance Responsibilities:

  • Act as the primary contact for building issues (climate control, odors, smoke, spills, damage, emergencies, repairs)
  • Monitor contractor performance and work with vendors and contractors to ensure work is completed according to specifications, including janitorial services
  • Coordinate projects, including large-scale repairs and new facility construction
  • Assist with maintaining building security and respond immediately to emergencies
  • Assist in preparing the annual maintenance budget
  • Solicit bids and quotes from vendors
  • Monitor and replace light bulbs as needed
  • Perform minor plumbing repairs; determine when a plumber is required
  • Coordinate and assist with departmental and employee moves, event setup, and teardown
  • Perform basic electrical work and identify when an electrician is needed
  • Dismantle and install furniture
  • Transport goods or equipment as assigned
  • Perform cleaning duties to maintain a clean facility; assist custodial staff when needed
  • Manage incoming and outgoing shipments, including preparation and receipt of packages and supplies
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet campus or district needs

  • Basic understanding of building systems
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • Prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively
  • Work effectively under pressure and strict deadlines
  • Use standard powered and non-powered tools
  • Travel to various work sites as needed
  • Handle high-stress, fast-paced work environments

  • Interact with district personnel, customers, and vendors
  • Work under supervision to complete daily tasks
  • Handle diverse situations with tact and diplomacy
  • Respond appropriately to customer needs, maintaining a positive attitude

Employee Punctuality and Appearance:

  • Perform all duties and work scheduled hours unless approved leave is obtained
  • Report to work dressed appropriately for the position

Additional Duties:

Perform other duties as requested by administration or the Director of Facilities.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervises janitorial staff

Physical and Environmental Demands:

  • Uses hand tools and equipment such as vacuums, floor machines, snow blowers, shovels, mowers, and hand tools
  • Prolonged sitting, occasional bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, twisting
  • Repetitive hand motions, keyboarding, occasional reaching
  • Occasional lifting (<15 pounds)
  • Work environment as needed

Mental Demands: Work with interruptions, maintain emotional control under stress

Tools/Equipment Used: Hand tools, power equipment, office equipment, computers, copiers, scanners, fax machines

Posture: Prolonged sitting, occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, twisting

Motion: Repetitive hand motions, keyboarding, reaching

Lifting: Occasional light lifting (<15 pounds)

Environment: As needed

Work Demands: Work with interruptions, maintain emotional control under stress
