Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Finish each service call with a detailed repair description and electronic invoice.
  • Maintain clean and safe work area, vehicle and equipment per safety regulations.
  • Schedule timely repairs and minimize drive time.
  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs as needed and be on-call.
  • Attend ongoing training to stay current with industry trends and company guidelines.

Job description

The Facilities Technician will ensure the highest possible support necessary for the preventative maintenance, repair, and installation of car wash, petroleum and retail equipment at both company operated and external customer locations. This position will ensure the highest level of customer service, including but not limited to, timely repairs, quality workmanship, and prompt and accurate invoice completion. The Facility Technician is also responsible for adherence to safety policies and practices. This position will ensure timely communication to customers and receive authorization to make the necessary repairs, when required. The Facilities Technician will also be required to attend on-going training to further professional development and to stay abreast of current trends in the car wash, petroleum and retail maintenance fields.

The Facilities Technician’s level will be determined by their ability to perform specific tasks as defined on a Job Task Analysis.

RESPONSIBILITIES BY COMPETENCY

  • Ensure work orders are accurately completed at the end of every service call
  • Maintain work area, vehicle, and equipment in a clean and orderly condition while following all safety regulations
  • Schedule time to maximize repair time and reduce drive time
  • Maintain and regulate existing c-store, petroleum and car wash equipment
  • Work with dispatcher to ensure elimination of repeat calls
  • Maintain regular attendance and follow designated safety practices
  • Track vehicle maintenance; and, schedule and ensure completion of regular maintenance tasks to reduce the likelihood of costly emergency repairs
  • Ask questions to understand Balanced Scorecard (BSC) and understand his/her contribution to the BSC
  • Bring forward operational efficiency ideas to the supervisor and/or the BSC team
  • Perform other duties not listed as required
Communication
  • Effectively communicate repair status to customers
  • Report to the supervisor any equipment issues that will result in the expenditure of funds above and beyond what is acceptable
  • Ensure communication with customers, suppliers, vendors, and co-workers is professional and appropriate
  • Communicate to supervisor any customer service issues or any potential safety hazards
  • Report any personal injuries or any damage done to company property or vehicles within policy timeframes
  • Inform Facilities Dispatcher regarding status of services calls
Customer Service Orientation
  • Report to work in accordance with company uniform and appearance standards
  • Exhibit a professional, customer friendly and helpful attitude while on the job
  • Finish each call with an explanation of the repair and complete an electronic invoice
  • Perform additional maintenance as requested based on time and resources
  • Complete site and/or customer visits as required
  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs when needed
  • Provide 24 hour on call services as needed
Developing Talent
  • Attend training to further professional development according to company guidelines
  • Stay abreast of current trends in the petroleum equipment industry and cross train others as needed
  • Work as a team member to help improve individual, departmental and organizational performance
  • Complete training as required to meet regulatory compliance and company guidelines
  • Attend continuing education workshops, seminars and study manuals pertaining to job classification
  • Provide experience, skills and expertise as needed to co-workers and other divisions
Safety
  • Work diligently to correct safety deficiencies in a timely manner
  • Complete safety training required for this position
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures
  • Inform Supervisor or Manager of unsafe conditions and behaviors, and recommend how to correct or eliminate them
  • Report all work-related injuries immediately
  • Adhere to all Wallis Companies safety policies and report all safety incidents to supervisor immediately
  • Attend and participate in safety meetings
  • Cooperate with the medical provider, and follow the treatment plan and Return-to-Work Program
Technical Expertise
  • Ensure work orders are completed with a detail description regarding services performed
  • Develop and maintain knowledge necessary for position
  • Diagnose problems with equipment and make repairs as directed or make recommendations for repairs
  • Maintain an excellent driving record and follow Vehicle Use Policy while in a Company vehicle
  • Ensure work orders are completed accurately with a detail description regarding services performed
  • Observe mechanical devices in operation and listen to sounds to locate causes of trouble
  • Install new and refurbished equipment
  • Dismantle devices to gain access to and remove defective parts
  • Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments

Education: High school diploma or equivalent; Additional specialized training in

the industry; Trade school or time in a trade as an apprentice; Time required in trade to master that trade (6 months to 2 years) Multiple trades mastered to move up the tech levels (1-4)

Experience: Mechanical background preferred

Language Skills: Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English in a manner

that is sufficient for effective communication with groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public

  • Willingness to work various days, evenings, and to be available "on call"
