Job summary

BAMSI is seeking a Facilities Technician to maintain safe, functional environments across residential, clinical, and administrative locations in Southeast Massachusetts. This role requires basic building trades knowledge, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to travel between sites.

Responsibilities include general maintenance, repairs, and preventative work, with on-call duties and a focus on safety and compliance.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of one year of hands-on building, property, or facilities maintenance experience required.
• General knowledge of building systems and maintenance practices.
• Demonstrated competency in at least two skilled trade areas such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, or appliance repair.

• Provide maintenance, repairs, and preventative services across BAMSI properties to ensure facilities remain safe, functional, and compliant.
• Perform general maintenance and repair work including basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, appliance repair, and other building maintenance tasks.
• Identify and complete preventative maintenance projects to reduce facility issues and improve operations.
• Utilize BAMSI’s digital work order system to document, track, and complete assigned work orders.

Facilities Technician

Location: Southeast Massachusetts (Travel Required)
Hours: 40 hours/week, Monday–Friday
Salary Range: $25–$30/hour
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

What You’ll Do:

Provide maintenance, repairs, and preventative services across BAMSI properties to ensure facilities remain safe, functional, and compliant.

Facilities Maintenance & Repairs

• Perform general maintenance and repair work including basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, appliance repair, and other building maintenance tasks
• Identify and complete preventative maintenance projects to reduce facility issues and improve operations
• Utilize BAMSI’s digital work order system to document, track, and complete assigned work orders
• Inspect facilities and proactively identify maintenance concerns before they become larger issues

Emergency Response & Operations

• Respond to emergency maintenance situations in a timely manner
• Participate in a rotating on-call schedule to support after-hours facility needs
• Maintain tools, equipment, and BAMSI vehicles in a safe and professional manner
• Safely operate BAMSI vehicles while traveling between locations throughout Southeast Massachusetts

Teamwork & Communication

• Maintain professional communication with program staff, managers, vendors, and stakeholders
• Collaborate with the Facilities team to prioritize and complete repairs efficiently
• Ensure work is completed in accordance with safety standards and agency expectations

What You Bring:

Education & Experience

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Minimum of one (1) year of hands‑on building, property, or facilities maintenance experience required

• Demonstrated competency in at least two skilled trade areas such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, or appliance repair
• Proficiency using hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment

Additional Requirements

• Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record required
• Ability to lift up to 100 pounds
• Ability to climb ladders and work at varying heights
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Ability to successfully complete a CORI/background check
