Job summary

Regents School of Austin is seeking a facilities maintenance person to support daily operations, events, and school programs on campus. You will perform light repairs, operate maintenance equipment, and help keep classrooms, offices, and outdoor spaces safe and clean.

Responsibilities include setup/breakdown, basic plumbing/electrical work, security support, and supervising temporary staff. Strong reading skills for manuals and plans are required, plus a Texas driver’s license.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to operate light mechanical equipment (riding lawn mowers, hand tools, power tools, pressure washers).
  • Experience with general household or commercial building repairs.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting maintenance plans, safety rules, operating instructions, diagrams, and manuals.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
  • Dependable, quick learner, and respectful attitude.
  • Current Texas driver’s license with the ability to drive cars, trucks, and non-commercial vans.

Responsibilities

  • Restock paper goods, cleaning supplies, and other necessary materials.
  • Conduct minor building repairs such as plumbing, painting, electrical work, and hardware installation.
  • Assemble, move, and maintain furniture and equipment.
  • Assist with security needs during building opening and closing, and help monitor campus access points.
  • Inspect buildings, playgrounds, and grounds; report or repair minor issues.
  • Install or maintain items such as pictures, mirrors, whiteboards, projector screens, and dispensers.
  • Manage and prioritize work orders efficiently.
  • Perform cleaning or janitorial duties as needed.
  • Provide oversight and guidance to temporary or contracted laborers.
  • Report maintenance issues requiring specialized service.
  • Be available by cell phone during work hours for urgent needs.
  • Perform additional duties as requested by the supervisor.
