Job summary

Tennessee College of Applied Technology Oneida/Huntsville is seeking a Custodian for a full-time Facilities role serving both the Oneida and Huntsville campuses, Monday through Friday.

The department is Facilities, and the position includes routine cleaning, maintenance tasks, and safety/disinfection duties to support a clean, safe campus environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Two years of maintenance or custodial experience preferred.
• Supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Clean all restroom facilities - Essential
• Stock/resupply all paper products and hand soap in restrooms - Essential
• Clean, buff, wax floors - Essential
• Clean spills and other hazards with appropriate equipment - Essential
• Remove trash from classrooms, shop areas, offices, and common areas - Essential
• Clean and disinfect all work areas to reduce the risk of or potential spread of COVID-19 and/or other infectious illnesses - Essential
• Mow and keep grounds well-manicured - Essential
• Painting, changing filters, light bulbs, etc. as necessary - Essential
• Other various maintenance duties as necessary - Essential
• Close and secure the buildings nightly - Essential

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma, HiSET (GED)

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience (2 years) as a maintenance or custodial worker

Previous experience in a supervisory role

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

• Ability to adapt to changing assignments and manage multiple tasks


• Working knowledge of safety guidelines and procedures


• Familiarity with OSHA/TOSHA guidelines


• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.


• Must have valid driver's license.


• Ability to read and understand safety data sheets and operating instructions and procedures, and equipment manuals.


• Ability to work independently or with a crew


• Ability to assume a role as crew leader


• A criminal background check will be required for the selected applicant.
