Job summary

Celestica Inc. in Richardson, TX is seeking a Facilities Technician to oversee complex infrastructure projects from inception to completion, acting as a technical lead for contractor selection and management.

Qualifications

  • Three to six years of relevant experience.
  • GED, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in a construction trade environment
  • Familiarity with NFPA 70e program for electrical safety in general.
  • Ability to evaluate, diagnose and troubleshoot problems.
  • Ability to manage several projects simultaneously and coordinate multiple deadlines.

Summary

As a Facilities Technician, this role manages complex infrastructure projects from inception to completion. The position serves as a technical lead, assisting with contractor selection and management to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to exact specifications. By collaborating with management on equipment placement and site planning, this role identifies and mitigates risks, and ensures the facility remains a safe, compliant, and efficient environment.

Detailed Description

Ensures the facility is always in compliance with all local and government regulations.

Provides technical direction to facilities staff and directs the same in non-routine work as applicable.

Performs routine inspections of Facility systems - HVAC, plumbing, water quality equipment to prevent unscheduled downtime.

Respond to emergency repairs to minimize facility downtime and disruption to operations.

Coordinates contract services, inspections and audits as necessary.

Manages multiple projects varying in complexity using solid project management skills and tools.

Monitors and reports progress status of projects along with quality, schedule, safety, security, productivity, administration, worksite appearance to site management team and evaluates contractors on these aspects.

Ensures compliance with applicable government EHS regulations.

Performs periodic reviews of EHS programs and initiatives to identify and control risks.

Physical Demands
  • Duties of the position are performed in a manufacturing environment with frequent exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, operating machinery, temperature extremes, hazardous substances, etc.
  • Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data.
  • Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required.
