About the role and what you’ll be doing:
The Data Center Facilities Specialist is responsible for the planning, maintenance, and documentation of data center operations and associated mission‑critical infrastructure at our Kings Mountain, NC location. This role ensures effective oversight of contractor activities and maintenance practices to maintain operational integrity and energy efficiency, directly supporting Ensono’s mission to enable clients to Do Great Things.
Position Objectives:
- Ensure operational best practices to maintain availability and uptime of mission‑critical operations and infrastructure
- Review and document operational and emergency procedures, maintaining as‑built documentation
- Share technical knowledge with team members to promote professional growth and cross‑training
- Optimize energy efficiency of data center facilities and systems
Responsibilities:
- Operate and manage critical equipment for routine and emergency services, including HVAC, plumbing, chillers, and fire detection systems
- Monitor and maintain optimal environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, airflow) to protect equipment and ensure continuous uptime
- Conduct regular inspections of critical infrastructure including electrical systems, UPS, generators, PDUs, and fire suppression systems
- Coordinate equipment installations, moves, adds, and changes (IMACs) within the data center environment
- Manage cable infrastructure and maintain organized cable management practices
- Respond to facility‑related alerts and incidents with urgency to minimize service impact and maintain SLA commitments
- Perform routine maintenance on raised floors, hot/cold aisle containment systems, and rack infrastructure
- Coordinate with vendors and contractors for data center maintenance, repair services, and capital projects
- Ensure compliance with data center industry standards, safety regulations, and company security policies
- Maintain accurate documentation of facility assets, maintenance logs, incident reports, and as‑built drawings
- Support capacity planning and infrastructure improvement initiatives
- Participate in on‑call rotation to provide 24/7 support for critical facility operations
What You Will Need:
- 3+ years of experience in data center facilities management or critical infrastructure operations
- Strong knowledge of data center infrastructure including power distribution (PDUs), cooling systems, and environmental controls
- Understanding of backup power systems including UPS and generator operations
- Familiarity with data center standards and best practices (ASHRAE, Uptime Institute, TIA‑942)
- Experience with environmental monitoring systems and building management systems (BMS)
- Knowledge of safety protocols for working in data center environments
- Ability to work in a 24/7 operational environment and respond to after‑hours emergencies
- Strong troubleshooting skills with ability to quickly identify and resolve facility issues
- Excellent documentation and communication skills
- Physical ability to lift equipment (up to 50 lbs), work with cabling, and navigate raised floor environments
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Facilities Management, or related technical field preferred
- Minimum 3 years of hands‑on experience in data center operations or critical facilities management
- Experience working with mission‑critical infrastructure and understanding of uptime requirements
Bonus Qualifications
- Data Center Certified Associate (DCCA) or Certified Data Centre Professional (CDCP) certification
- Experience with colocation or managed service provider data center environments
- Knowledge of DCIM (Data Center Infrastructure Management) tools
- Electrical or HVAC technical certifications
- Experience with incident management and change management processes (ITIL framework)
- Familiarity with physical security systems and access control in data center environments

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay scale for this role is $44,000 to $63,000 annually based on a full‑time schedule. Please note that placement in the range may vary based on numerous factors including but not limited to skills, experience, internal equity, and business needs. In addition to base salary, other compensation programs, depending on eligibility, include an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, and an equity grant under our Associate Equity Appreciation Program.
