Job summary

The role requires at least a high school diploma and one year of experience in physical plant operations, with solid computer skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum education as stated: high school diploma or equivalent.
• One year experience in physical plant operations and equipment maintenance.
• Basic computer skills (MS Office).

Responsibilities

• Collect maintenance requisitions from all units and departments.
• Review information, set priorities, assign staff or inspect repairs.
• Establish and conduct scheduled maintenance for the facility and equipment.
• Maintain and test emergency power systems and life safety equipment.
• Perform daily duties of maintenance staff and ensure essential equipment is safe.
• Ensure potable water availability for essential areas during outages.
• Monitor temperatures and promptly repair hazards.
• Communicate with residents and families to identify needs and abilities.
• Monitor staff performance and conduct compliance reviews.
• Develop and update maintenance policies and procedures.
• Complete documentation and audit records; improve record keeping.
• Collaborate with consultants to improve maintenance services.
• Ensure OSHA workplace safety compliance and post-exposure follow-up.
• Participate in departmental budgeting and present needs to the administrator.
• Hire and retain qualified maintenance staff and support a safe environment.
• Contribute to the long-term care survey process during on-site visits.
