Responsibilities
- Design, layout, prefabrication and installation of facility piping systems for ongoing maintenance.
- Ensure quality and code compliance of all projects through inspection and adherence to local, state, and national regulations.
- Conduct scheduled inspections of the Bank’s life safety systems, including fire pumps, sprinkler piping, halon and FM 200 systems.
- Assist maintenance staff with preventive and corrective maintenance and repair of new or reworked mechanical piping systems.
- Collaborate with other trade staff to coordinate routing of new mechanical piping systems, preventing installation or accessibility conflicts.
- Coordinate shutdowns of building mechanical systems and the Bank’s fire suppression systems.
- Act as a technical resource for mechanical piping systems, review project specifications and drawings, and oversee internal and external staff to ensure code compliance.
- Assist in inspections, testing, maintenance, and operations of the Bank’s critical life safety systems.
- Assist HVAC technicians in installing, repairing, and troubleshooting commercial HVAC systems and equipment.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 5 to 9+ years of relevant work experience.
- Four years in a Virginia state‑recognized plumbing/pipefitting apprenticeship program.
- Journeyman plumber certification.
- Gas fitter and backflow prevention experience.
- Working knowledge of troubleshooting and problem‑solving processes.

- Employees who work at or visit other Federal Reserve entities or outside businesses are required to comply with any onsite safety and health protocols of those organizations.
- Sponsorship is not available for this role.
- Selected candidates are subject to special background check procedures.
- The hiring range for this role is $57,000 – $79,300 annually, based on responsibilities and individual experience.
- This position is required to be onsite Monday through Friday each week, with an on‑call rotation every six weeks.
