Job summary

UL Solutions, a global leader in safety science, seeks a Global Planning & Project Manager to lead facilities planning, capital project management, asset governance, and program execution across 160+ facilities. You will guide strategic planning, portfolio governance, and people leadership to align infrastructure needs with business growth and compliance.

The role reports to the Global Facilities leadership team and collaborates with executives across regions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in facilities-related field.
  • 8–12+ years in facilities, engineering, capital planning, project management, or real estate.
  • 3–5+ years leading people and developing teams.
  • Experience managing capital portfolios and complex multi-site projects.
  • Strong financial acumen: capital planning, forecasting, budgeting.
  • Experience leading consultants, contractors, and cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development and maintenance of the Global Facilities 10-Year Capital Plan.
  • Establish long-range infrastructure renewal and modernization strategies.
  • Develop asset lifecycle programs and capital forecasting models.
  • Oversee FCA and FCI programs.
  • Create project governance, prioritization, and investment recommendations.
  • Support sustainability, energy reduction, resiliency, and decarbonization efforts.
  • Lead a global portfolio of capital, infrastructure, workplace, security, and operations projects.
  • Set PM standards, tools, templates, and governance processes.
  • Monitor scope, schedule, budget, risk, and performance metrics.
  • Support business case development, funding approvals, and exec presentations.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, engineering, environmental, and standards.
  • Coordinate execution with regional teams, engineers, and contractors.
  • Develop executive dashboards and reporting for capital programs.
  • Track expenditures, forecast accuracy, and asset health indicators.
  • Establish KPIs for project execution and facilities performance.
  • Provide monthly/quarterly portfolio reviews to Facilities leadership.
  • Support annual operating planning, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Build and lead a high-performing Planning & Project Management organization.
  • Recruit, develop, mentor, and retain PMs and staff.
  • Foster accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

The Global Planning & Project Manager provides strategic leadership for facilities planning, capital project management, asset management, and program governance across the global facilities portfolio. This role leads a team responsible for developing long-range infrastructure plans, capital investment strategies, facility condition assessments, project execution standards, and portfolio reporting.

This role leads a team responsible for developing long-range infrastructure plans, capital investment strategies, facility condition assessments, project execution standards, and portfolio reporting.

The position serves as a key member of the Global Facilities leadership team, ensuring alignment between business growth objectives, facility infrastructure requirements, operational priorities, and capital investment decisions. The role combines strategic planning, portfolio management, and people leadership to drive execution across more than 160 global facilities.

Responsibilities
Strategic Planning & Asset Management
  • Lead development and maintenance of the Global Facilities 10-Year Capital Plan.
  • Establish long-range infrastructure renewal and modernization strategies.
  • Develop and maintain asset lifecycle management programs and capital forecasting models.
  • Oversee facility condition assessment (FCA) and facility condition index (FCI) programs.
  • Create project prioritization criteria, governance processes, and capital investment recommendations.
  • Support sustainability, energy reduction, resiliency, and decarbonization initiatives.
Capital Program & Project Leadership
  • Lead a global portfolio of capital, infrastructure, workplace, security, and operational improvement projects.
  • Establish project management standards, tools, templates, and governance processes.
  • Monitor project scope, schedule, budget, risk, and performance metrics.
  • Support business case development, funding approvals, and executive presentations.
  • Ensure projects comply with applicable regulatory, engineering, environmental, and corporate standards.
  • Coordinate project execution with regional facilities teams, engineering consultants, and contractors.
Portfolio Governance & Reporting
  • Develop executive dashboards and capital program reporting.
  • Track capital expenditures, forecast accuracy, project delivery metrics, and asset health indicators.
  • Establish KPIs for project execution, asset reliability, and facilities performance.
  • Provide monthly and quarterly portfolio reviews to Facilities leadership and executive stakeholders.
  • Support annual operating planning, Capital and Expense budgeting, and forecasting activities.
Organizational Leadership
  • Build and lead a high-performing Planning & Project Management organization.
  • Recruit, develop, mentor, and retain project managers, planners, and support staff.
  • Establish clear roles, responsibilities, and performance expectations.
  • Drive employee development, succession planning, and capability growth.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to Facilities leadership, business leaders, and regional stakeholders.
Vendor & Consultant Management
  • Manage external engineering, architecture, construction management, and consulting resources.
  • Develop statements of work, evaluate proposals, and negotiate contracts.
  • Establish engineering and design standards for global facilities projects.
  • Ensure consultant and contractor performance meets expectations for safety, quality, schedule, and budget.
Leadership Expectations

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Business, or related field.
  • 8–12+ years of progressively responsible experience in facilities, engineering, capital planning, project management, or real estate.
  • 3–5+ years of experience leading people and developing teams.
  • Demonstrated experience managing capital portfolios and complex multi-site projects.
  • Strong financial acumen, including capital planning, forecasting, and budget management.
  • Experience leading consultants, contractors, and cross-functional project teams.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, Construction Management, Business, or related discipline.
  • PMP certification.
  • IFMA CFM or FMP certification.
  • Experience supporting laboratory, industrial, manufacturing, or technical facilities.
  • Knowledge of ISO 41001, NFPA standards, electrical infrastructure management, and asset management best practices.

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. The estimated salary range for this position is $123,200- $150,000 and is based on multiple factors, including job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, as well as other factors. This position is eligible for annual bonus compensation with a target payout of 20% of the base salary. This position also provides health benefits such as medical, dental and vision; wellness benefits such as mental and financial health; and retirement savings (401K) commensurate with the standard rewards offered in each individual location or country. We also provide full-time employees with paid time off including vacation (15 days), holiday and personal days (totaling 12 days), and sick time off (72 hours).
